Where will the next Major war/ conflict take place? Why?

If I was asked this question earlier this year, I would definitely say with Iran over their nuclear program.

Any place in the Middle East is a continuous possibility as well the Pacific Rim because of Korea, but we might also consider Africa. There are more than enough provocateurs on the east coast in and around Somalia as well as unrest surrounding Nigeria which is one of the world's largest oil producers. Any of these places could put the world economy in jeopardy by either disrupting maritime trade or flow of oil. Any such event would almost certainly incite some significant use of force by the west.

I think there is a lot of possibilities for when and where our next major conflict could take place. I think Iran poses a strong threat, Syria, North Korea. I also wouldn't be surprised to see a major conflict happen in Mexico over the drug cartels. No one can predict the future though or predict what other countries may or may not do so we just need to be ready for whatever the Army wants us to do when the time comes.

I think it would really depend on what happens after we leave Afghanistan. Depending on how we work to rebuild our military it can affect where and what we face as our next major conflict. If we are perceived as being weak and other would be Superpowers decide to flex their muscle regionally we could see action in/around Asia. I could see an alliance forming between Russia and China to counter the perception that having one Superpower is dangerous for the world (they've also attempted to push for a replacement of the dollar as the world's reserve currency). If we continue to be a strong country and still seen as the strongest power in the world, we will continue to have smaller/regional conflicts through out South West Asia, and possibly Africa, the would be rivals to our power will likely wait for a perception of weakness before flexing their muscles.

I think we also have to plan for a cyber war, attacking infrastructure weakening of infrastructure and communications could reduce our strengths that would also allow smaller powers to counter our battlefield strength.

Korea.  I know that they have been rattling their sabers for ages, but the economy and standard of living are steadily going downhill.  Great Leader Jr. has to do something if he wants to survive and continue to lead his country.  He cannot go North and take on his mentors in China and that only leaves a full invasion of the South.  As he continues to tunnel under the DMZ he will eventually have enough troops under it and in the South to launch a full invasion.  So, Korea is my choice.

North Korea is nothing more than a lap dog for the Chinese to unleash every now and then to make a lot of noise.

The Middle East has always been a hot spot, but fortunately they are just as interested in killing one another as they are the Israeli's.

China on the other hand wants to be a major player on the world stage. They were given a huge boost in 1997 when they got Hong Kong back. China is also modernizing it's military especially its Naval Arm. This during a time when the US is talking about down sizing. It doesn't take a Psychic to figure out where the next major conflict will be, only when.

I best guess would be Iran first then Syria as a close second. I think Iran would be the next conflict because of their nuclear program and I just don't trust any of the crap that s coming out of there. Syria would be a close second because of the use of the chemical weapons during their civil war. But there is no true way to determine where the next conflict could occur.

This would be a tough call.

I would normally say that the Middle East or SW Asia would be most likely, especially considering Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, Lybia (ok, that's Africa), and other factionalized seudo-nations and tribes which seem to continually be able to destabilize even the most reasonably functioning states in the area.

Africa has seemed to really heat up over the past years. The French actually started conducting operations in Mali...ahead of everyone else! Amazing! You know that somewhere has gone to S- when the French beat us to the punch. With all the extremist groups taking route in African nations, which are already tribally fractionalized....combined with all the despots, power-mongerers, and genocidal maniacs.....it would not take much for the entire continent to errupt. Thank goodness that they have trouble creating alliances which would prove to create larger issues.

The Asian Pacific Rim has started to get really funny this week with China trying to assert it's own strength by insisiting it controls certain airspace that both the Japanese and US are pushing the boundries on daily. With North Korea abducting US Citizens and constantly trying to push the boundries.....it could happen in the blink of an eye there.

It's just impossible to say at this point.

Well, I don't think that we will ever reach PEACE with the middle east. I think we are on somewhat good grounds with Euro/Asia so... I think if anything it might be IRAN or Africa. Maybe Somalia again.

The US ARMY is downsizing, making cuts, less money, in the meantime other countries are getting stronger and making a better Army, I have no doubts of our capabilities but at the same time we need to have the best equipment, the best training out there and keep our force happy to be able to defend our Country and win war/conflicts! I don't know what is going to happen in the future I just hope that we have the best of everything to win!

North Korea I have my doubts! The young punk Kim, just trying to show he is in charge. China is a possibility! Russian is my concern! The current administration is trying to talk tough, while threatening to cut out military! That doesn't scare Russia at all!

My thought actually... Is of a North Korean/Russian alliance because think about it, we are in the middle of the Ukraine issue battling in a political format currently but giving the fact North Korea dislikes us with a passion, and Russia is honestly the only country in the world that could "on its own" stand toe too toe with America, north korea would be smart to aline themselves with Russia and IF worst came to worst between us and Russia, North Korea could easily jump on the band wagon and tag team us, and ultimantly my fear is russias speed... If they did form an aliance im afraid we'd be in for a possible "Red Dawn" type war on US soil, I wish someone would hear me out on how they could do it... I have college classes in History and Biology/Chemistry and I found one major weakness the US has due to the Geography of the Region and the lack of historical protection we have there the War of 1812 proved that, but... Point being... Russia and North Korea are my two places for the next conflict

Chief, I'd agree with you on the Pacific. But I don't think the terrorist groups in the Philippines are content in what they're doing. Syria isn't happening. But North Korea is the only likely scenario. Kim Jong-Un is still trying to be recognized on the world stage and he killed his own uncle. We definitely have to keep a close eye on him. Iran remains high on the list but I think as long as President Rohani, stays President then I can see dialogue between our two countries in the coming years.

As much as it pains me to say, The next major conflict for the United States could very well be within it's own borders. Our country is more divided now than I have ever seen it. There seems to be a tension boiling for many years. If we do not get the leadership in Washington that does more to unite the people I see at best civil unrest.

As far as a foreign conflict North Korea is a very strong possibility. That past tensions could have easily got out of hand. It showed that China and Russia will defend the North Koreans.

Sir while not wading in to the politics of anything, there have been plenty of "conflicts" that we could have intervened in but didn't.

While Iraq looks horrible at the time, I don't think the POTUS right now could get authorization to act from our other elected leaders. There is so much distrust and failure to compromise, I don't think the POTUS could get an authorization outside of the War Powers Act, but I believe that limits him to 90 days, and then he can only proceed with Congressional approval.

Like in WW2 lets let are allies get into the fight first then we can bail them out again. I'm sick of how other countries hate us for stepping in first so let them spend the money and we can sit back and see just who the dogs are in this fight. We need to focus on this country for awhile when nut jobs can protest fallen hero's funerals and injured veterans have to fight to get the support they need. I just think we should take care of all the veterans from one conflict before creating more.

My worse case scenario is that the U.S. Falls into disrespect because politicians have made untrustworthy and the world explodes in several areas, that your pick of several options. It will be as bad as WWII but with nukes; plus the U.S. Will break out in civil war to determine if we remain a constitutional republic or become some form of tyranny. I pray not but I think we are well pass the point of no return to avoid it.
