Which is better, Fort Bragg or Alaska?

I have the option to go to fort Bragg or to Alaska? which station should I choose, I am a 25B. which would be more fun, less restricting(on leave), have more freedom to do things. I don't want to be at a unit that has nagging sergeants all the time or constantly having to do infantry work as a 25B. I don't mind PT or having to do PT standards like infantry men because I'm fit...I just don't want to have to do jobs like them. I want to be a 25B in a relaxed environment. haha I'm sure there is no avoiding motor pool Mondays so I don't care about that I just want to make the best decision here. Any advice would be great. I also hear people who have Bragg have little to no weekend times and you can lose your family being stationed there because of people saying work is never done. Please help.

Alaska is good if you like outdoor nature activities (hunting, hiking, fishing) and cold weather

Fort Bragg is good if you like urban activities (Charlotte or Raleigh on weekends) and rigorous unit culture (Airborne and Special Forces emphasis even in support units)

I spent a lot of time at Bragg and it can be hard but it also depends on what unit you are with at the time. If you get one of the SF groups or USASOC it is an amazing gig. Hard work but great times. There is the sustainment units or the Corps which are a little different but more structured. The good thing is there a tons of options for your MOS on Bragg. As for Alaska the options shrink a lot but if you are into the outdoor activities (hunting, fishing, etc...) then it could be a great gig. Hope this helps.

You ask a question yet you listening to others. First, decide what you want then look at the benefits of your choice. All duty stations are what you make of them. We were on Fort Bragg for most of my career and it was a great duty station. Focus on what you can control and go with your instincts.

I spent 10 years at Bragg and 5 at FortRichardsn, Your attitude is your worst enemy. The military is what you make of it and you are looking for a slide for life. I hope you get out and find something you are willing to put 100% into. But with an attitude like that, I would expect job-hopping and near poverty for your future.

I have never heard a bad thing about being stationed in Alaska. I spent 13 years at Fort Bragg and have many reasons to recommend a good change.

I tell you what PFC don't bother coming to Alaska with that attitude. we don't need Soldiers that give us those kinds of headed as we have more important things to take care of then babysit you to turn around and chapter you out. we have Soldier who deserves our attention and do have a sense of military bearing on and off duty.

Alaska is a small post and everybody know everybody

What it sounds like your saying is you don’t wanna go to a line unit because you don’t wanna be part of the team and you don’t actually want to have to do any work. You don’t wanna get told what to do or be held accountable for screwing up and you want your weekends. Well shoot! why didn’t you say so? Go see a navy recruiter.

You can hunt and fish at both locations, it's just different. I'd give Alaska the win on that.
If you want to be in the SE, Ft Bragg wins there.
It's likely easier to reach most any place on leave cheaper and quicker from Bragg.
If by freedom, you mean evenings and weekends off, even tie.
Bragg would provide more opportunities to take advantage of some trips during 4 day weekends, than Alaska. Neither will likely be less restrictive on leave.
SGTs don't run around nagging at either location, and nobody here can predict the attitude and command climate at any unit you may be assigned to. We can predict, however, that a Soldier who perceives SGTs as running around nagging, may strongly want to consider adjusting that attitude. I'm uncertain. It's unclear what you mean by "infantry work," so it's difficult to respond to that. If by infantry work, you mean field training and associated work (i.e. constructing a fighting position, guard duty, ........)
Each post may have weekend duty requirements, and you can lose your family anywhere.

Go to Bragg and ask to to Join Delta, they would love to have someone of your caliber in their unit, just head out to gate at Wally World and shake it, the welcoming committee will be out accept your application in person.

I wasn't stationed at either & it was so long ago wouldn't matter, but I visted friends frequently at Ft. Bragg over the years & the area since, & I lived near Ft. Richardson while hubby was stationed at AFB Eilson in Anchorage. TAKE ALASKA! It was a wonderful place even camping in below 0 weather! The ONLY reason we didn't retire there was because my husband is a 24/7 gardening addict & the days weren't long enough.

Honestly no matter where you go itll always be NCOs that nag, thats their job. Far as which one is best its really up to you...i love fort bragg but i know a lot of people that hate it, but this is my first active duty contract here after being in the guard so i like the atmosphere here. I've also heard good and bad about alaska so you just gotta make the best of it
