<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Define authentic. Both are based on POV (Point of View). Indeed, it may be argued that all media is "social" media". Every 'report" is akin to looking through the viewfinder of a camera held by someone else. Thus, you have too walk around looking through many of these cameras, building a composite image, until you have some appreciation for the "truth". Also, remember that each view is a snapshot in time. It is a fragment of a story that began long ago. Without looking at past views (history), you will always have an incomplete picture.CPT Jack DurishSat, 04 Mar 2017 10:12:44 -05002017-03-04T10:12:44-05:00Response by CAPT Kevin B. made Mar 4 at 2017 10:36 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The print media winds up being more accurate overall because there are still some decent editors out there that hold the article writer to certain standards. eMedia has nowhere near that standard. So the trick is to find sources that actually produce product to a decent standard. Good luck.CAPT Kevin B.Sat, 04 Mar 2017 10:36:44 -05002017-03-04T10:36:44-05:00Response by MCPO Roger Collins made Mar 4 at 2017 10:39 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The print media is more traditional, has been around much longer and thus has a more authentic feel than social media. In the past, the print media was supposed to represent a neutral view of an event. However, that has not always been the case. There are many times in the past (Yellow Journalism) where print media had lost its way.<br /><br />Social media is all about ones opinion. Which often differ from individual to individual.<br /><br />My answer, would be that nowadays, both the print media and social media have evolved to be essentially the same.SMSgt Thor MerichSat, 04 Mar 2017 12:12:58 -05002017-03-04T12:12:58-05:00Response by Col Rebecca Lorraine made Mar 4 at 2017 2:12 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It has always been my opinion the journalists/reporters should report the facts, and leave their emotions out of it- it is up to the reader to come up with their own conclusions. If I want their emotions or their opinion, I will read the "Dear Abby" or the entertainment section of the paper. I am not a blind sheep(le) and refuse to be led by the nose like one. I can formulate my own opinions, I don't need to be spoon fed- thank you very much. Maybe if the media, both print and social would realize that fact, they might not feel so alienated, or have their integrity questioned. js<br />S/FGySgt Melissa GravilaSat, 04 Mar 2017 17:45:11 -05002017-03-04T17:45:11-05:00Response by Sgt Kelli Mays made Mar 5 at 2017 2:04 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The issue isn't the medium of spread, but rather, the person behind the story. Everybody has an agenda. As such, it's important to pull information from multiple different sources of varying leanings and check for inconsistencies, alternate perceptions of the event in question, ect. Ideally, when looking for information on a speech or event, look for video recording of said speech or event that is free of commentary so as to avoid bias and be allowed to draw your own conclusion. Authenticity is breathed into something by it's creator, not by the medium of which it spreads.PFC Jonathan AlbanoSun, 05 Mar 2017 04:30:53 -05002017-03-05T04:30:53-05:00Response by CW5 Sam R. That said, the "Main Stream Media" has made themselves the laughing stock of TV, print, et al. It also has no one to blame for that but itself. <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Where there is an author, there is a bias and where there is a bias, there is a slant.<br /><br />I don't look at any media sources as truly authentic unless I see them coming from mostly neutral people. Social media tends to be a bit more reliable than print media because I know the people posting the stories, so I know their stances.
