Which jobs are best for Boeing?

Interested in which military MOS are best experience for Boeing? I’m assuming aviation, but anything beyond that? And if anything, do you think the best bet is to get a degree while I’m active duty rather than rely on experience to get into Boeing?

Ashley Nicole There are a lot of folks in my unit that work for Boeing (not just NGA). I'm in a Geospatial Intel unit.

Ms Ashley, while it is nice to be able to dovetail military training/experience into a civilian job, if that is the reason for trying to enlist; then your are doing the Service/Nation a great dis-service. All parties would be better served if you just stayed home and pursued a degree in aviation.

I have quite a few friends and family who work for Boeing. Some are NG, some are retired military, some are just normal civilians with no particular aviation history. So, go for something you enjoy, Boeing is a big hiring agency for veterans. One drawback of Boeing is they tend to lay their workers off for periods of time in accordance with the work availability. It's not as big a deal when you have a military pension to fall back on.

look at other aircraft manufacturers too. don't limit yourself to Boeing. Sikorsky, Hughes, McDonnell Douglas, etc all have essentially the same types of jobs. it would depend a lot on what your interests are.

it could help with a degree but you get points by being military. what you do in the military could help you also.

Boeing is so large of a company that, if you can think of a job, there is somebody in Boeing that does it. it all depends of what you want to do. Get a degree while you are still active duty. most jobs that you would want as a career will require some level of education. Use tuition assistance and get the military to pay for it. i retired in 2015, got a job with Boeing, and work with people who have massive student debt. so much so that they dont know when or how they will pay it off. Experience alone will not get you a job. you will almost always need to meet the minimum education requirements for that particular job. a degree qualifies you for that job, experience will help get you that job.

It totally depends in which part of Boeing you want to work. If you want to do something in aviation I’m sure it exists, but they also have manufacturing, design, machining, and internal security (including safeguarding against industrial espionage and other less polite practices), and much more. It’s a massive company.

Go for a defense job within Boeing if you can. Right now defense is booming, and commercial obviously is suffering thanks to Covid, and excessive cost Aircraft overruns.
