Being raised with it I prefer Standard but having served overseas I can do some rough approximations with Metric.

Depends:
If Cooking = Standard
If Shooting = Metric
But, I work in construction. So, my daily grind is standard.

I grew up with standard units and still have to translate metric to standard to estimate accurately.

Depends on what I'm doing. Still call a kilometer a click. And understand that part better for military purposes.

MAJ Private RallyPoint Member grew up on standard but 6 years in the military lol only distance I say in standard anymore is miles when driving everything else is metric it's actually easier but having to use both metric and standard tools mostly rachets is annoying as hell

Absolutely Metric. The system makes way more sense. I don't understand how anyone with a science or engineering background could say otherwise. I think most people can't separate their history of rote memorization from evaluating how the systems actually work. Yes it is harder for people who are already trained in Standard to switch to Metric. However it is FAR more easier to TEACH metric than it is standard. There are for less conversion mistakes between metric units than there is standard units. Metric units are easier to comprehend with relation to each other than standard units are because we can understand differences of magnitude far easier than arbitrary size differences.

As an engineering student ( a long time ago) the first thing we did with any problem was convert to metric. Then we would solve the problem and convert the answer back to standard.

In every day life I use standard American, feet pounds etc. In science everywhere I went it was always Metric.

Living in Denmark for over 20yrs I've become equally good with both. Metric is very easy. Temps, both have their good points.

Metric, Hands down. Everything is divisible by 10. What could be easier? In fact, the ONLY thing remotely hard about the Metric system is the fact that we continue to cling to standard and have to convert.

I remember those! Interesting that the JROTC classes are still using the same Tenino, WA map sheets that they used when I was a JROTC cadet 50 years ago!
