Which Military member gets transferred if they get married under the same CO?

My fiance and I have been in engaged for quite some time now and I’ve asked many people but no one can actually seem to give me answer. We are trying to get married in January when we go on leave we are just trying to figure out who will get transferred. I’m getting out in 2020 he PCSs to his next Duty Station in August of 2019.

Whichever the CO decides to move, his/her choice.

unless your spouse is in your direct chain of command there is no reason to transfer either of you. Even then you can stay in the same command just not work for him. They could just send someone to another work center or department within the command.

1st) Marriages count, Engagements do not.

2nd) Your Service should have policies that directly impact this question, ask your Admin office. Even cross-service marriages can seek co-location(within limits). However, as always the "Needs of the Service" will potentially trump any other arrangements.

I personally know of at least one AF/USMC couple who left an assignment where they met and married and were located upon transfer within 50 miles of each other until such time as one of them left the Service and joined their Spouse. Definitely look at the Policies available to your service-specific situation.

There are a lot of factors, is this a shore or ship command? What is your rate and his rate? Do you work in the same department/unit under this command?

In my old unit we had 2 junior soldiers who were married. Neither was moved from the company until Brigade gave the “ok” to push female medics to line units. The female soldier was then moved. Before then, they were placed in separate platoons and instructed not to “interact” during work.

Not sure how the your branch would handle it though.
