Which MOS is the better way to reclassify, 15T or 15U? What is the daily like of these MOSs? Which has more opportunities?

Either MOs is going to tell you there's is the better one. Both are good jobs, and if you get into a flight company, you will love it. My wife is a Hooker (15U) and she absolutely loves her job.

T and U are 6 of one and a half a dozen of the other. Same job, different airframes. If you end up in a flight company though, Chinooks have more legroom and head clearance.

Both are great MOS'es, aviation is a totally different universe from others. You can fly as a non-rated crewmember if you qualify medically and picked by the flight company, that's where is the all hard work is at. You have to have a heart for this kind of job. Good luck!

Both are great airframes. I am just more partial to the Blackhawk, but that could be that I have flown more with it and spent more time in a Hawk unit.

Chinooks have a lot more room, but have had times while deployed they only flew at night due being such a larger target. Hawks can have a very wide range of missions.

Look into both as much as possible, to decide what works best for you.

I agree with most comments posted. Read about each MOS and choose which best suits you. I myself am a retired SFC 15T and loved my MOS. The 15T and 15U career fields will each tell you theirs is the best. Only you should make the choice for which is best to request change to. Good luck Soldier.

Well as someone who has worked on both I will say there's not a whole lot of difference. My MOS was 15T but we all crosstrained with 15U. Hawks have a lot of tight areas you'll find yourself wedged in where in Chinooks you USUALLY have more room to get to what you need to reach. There's a lot more climbing involved with Chinooks. As it pertains to Flight companies... Chinooks deal with a lot of troop/cargo transport. If you go with Hawk you're able to go MEDEVAC, assault, or VIP/troop transport.

I'm a 15T and it's really good easy fast pace. You most be willing to go the extra mile and make sure everything that you work on is in good or better condition then you got it, because at the end of the day there's people's life that are going to be in the aircraft and wouldn't want anything bad to happen to them. You also get the opportunity to be a crew chief and fly in them

15U. More chance to be able to get more flight time. Also can carry cargo as well as do sling loads and medevac.

I'm biased, but Chinooks are so awesome... Big nice birds... Plus, army plans to keep them at least till 2060. This MOS was picked for me at MEPS, but now I don't want to change it to anything else. Can't wait to start ''hands on'' at my unit.

15t i was a uh-60 maintainer for 7 years but you also can got to diffrent companys and be put on flight status and be a door gunner/crea chief and its an amazing experience.

I don't know if you are still looking for information about these MOS's, but I'll be happy to throw my two cents in.

The big thing is advancement opportunities; which MOS can you advance faster in? 15Us have more E6 positions because every Flight Engineer in a flight company is an E6 position. 15Ts have more E7 positions because there are more Blackhawk battalions in the Army.

15Ts have more duty stations than 15Us. As a 15U, you can be stationed at Ft. Drum, Ft. Eustis (instructor only), Ft. Bragg, Ft. Campbell, Hunter Army Airfield, Ft. Rucker, Ft. Hood, Ft. Bliss, Ft. Carson, Ft. Riley, Alaska, Hawaii, Germany, Honduras (flight status only), and Korea. If you go 160th SOAR, you can also go to Fort Lewis as a 15U. As a 15T, you can go to all of those locations plus Italy, Ft. Irwin, Ft. Leavenworth, and a whole bunch more that I cannot remember.

I believe there are more civilian employment opportunities for 15T because the Navy and Air Force use Blackhawks as well. Plus most civilian helicopters have tail rotors so you will be familiar with them. Chinooks don't have a tail rotor system. If you are open to doing a different MOS and you want to pick an MOS with great civilian opportunities; then 15F, 15G and 15N are better MOS's.

I have worked on both Chinooks and Blackhawks. I believe Chinooks are easier to work on than Blackhawks. Both airframes are impressive and both offer you the ability to be a non-rated crew member.

I like both on the active duty I was a 15t and it great now I work on ch47 as a civilian and is also good because on the ch47 you can get to it an you can walk sra8up on on the cabin and of course everything is bigger

12+ hours a day. Early mornings. Late nights. Limited formations. Small groups or individual taskings. Tdy is a plus. Lots of hotels a plus. Lots of travel whether its state side or overseas. Must know your job or you won't make it very far.

If you haven't looked on T.O.D. On AKO and if you'd be interested in deploying they are looking for 15 series to go to Kuwait and if I remember correctly there is a tour to go to Afghanistan soon but as far as your question goes ask your self this if you were shot out of the sky over an ocean would you rather be in a Blackhawk that sinks or a chinhook that floats hope this helps.

what aircraft is the MOS for? Im old school such as 67 and 66 MOS. What are you reclassifying from? I thin k the answer will be re up for the job you seek and what are the Army needs at the time? Also you can always try to OJT

Kinda in the same boat, im currently an infantryman and i like thr black hawk more then the chinhook especially when it comes to its missions but at the same time being crammed is not interesting at all.
