You are assigned, promoted, and utilized only as your Primary MOS in the Regular Army. If you want to switch to the old one, there is a formal process to go back to it, and it can be denied.<br /><br />HRC will most likely not approve a reclass into 12T, assuming there are ever any class seats. The MOS is frequently over strength at lower levels, meaning they simply promote to meet strengths, as opposed to accepting reclasses at E5P. I don't think they even accept E5P, but I don't have ATRRS open in front of me. <br /><br />But, again - class seats. They just don't often have class seats.
