Which party will win the Senate and House?

Which party is going to control the House and hold a majority in the Senate in January 2017? Even if you regard the presidential contest as over - a proposition for which there is powerful evidence, including but not limited to Donald Trump's current campaign message choices - the answers to those questions are, respectively, mildly and very unclear. Comments please!

SP5 Mark Kuzinski I think there needs to be a House and Senate Cleaning, and all current House and Senate members need to be fired. We need to start fresh and work up to a better representing people.

SP5 Mark Kuzinski I personally know two people in Congress both are Republicans. The first is a long-standing Congressman for southern Illinois who is a USMA classmate, brother-in-Christ and a friend of mine. He is an honorable man who spends as much times as he can in his district.
I would like to see all Congressmen and women spend much of their time in their districts away from lobbyists and the high life of Washington, DC with its inherent corruption.
The other person I know is more of an opportunist. She just completed her first term in Congress. Over the past ten years I have seen her distance herself from other Republicans when she was running.
I expect that the Republicans will control the House and they may gain a seat in the senate.

Whichever one wins, we lose. Party is destroying this country. The Ds don't stop and the Rs are to weak to stop them. Compromise for the sake of compromise is weakness. Where has all of this compromise gotten us today?

Doesn't matter, either way the people lose. With a decision between bad and worse, with the two-party system we currently have nobody is going to win this election. it is time for a term limit on the house and senate, no more of this 'paid for life" crap after serving the position and get some of that money back into the programs they keep taking it from......VA, Social Security etc.

Personally, I think one of two things is going to happen.

Hillary wins - Nothing changes. Democrats will vote in Democrats. Republicans will vote in Republicans. Business as usual.

Trump wins - House gets cleaned out. Considering the amount of Republicans that turned their backs on Trump, you know they won't have his support for reelection. Democrats will either also clean house, or fall in line. Considering the amount of Bernie supporters there were, I wouldn't be surprised if they cleaned house too. I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of independent/3rd Party/1st termers start filling the seats.

I am looking for a win, a real win for the American people - regardless of political party lines and affiliations. The corrupt self-serving agenda pushing politico's (regardless of party) need to make a quick exodus out the open door. Sometimes, we need new ideas (new blood) and it really needs to be more Veterans. Veterans look at people as people, not with racial/ethnic/religious/orientation biases and that is what we really need.

Dammit, get rid of the politically correct visionaries and lets elect some real leaders for our future!

At this point all I want for Christmas is for one of the legislative bodies to be of a different party from the White house and to have a majority that can filibuster for four years. Meanwhile the collective American electorate needs to go into the kitchen and get the stool, place it in the corner, put our nose in that corner and THINK ABOUT WHAT WE HAVE DONE, for four years. If we ask what we've done or to come out early we should sit there until 2024. Just because Johnny picked an incredibly bad slate doesn't mean WE have to pick an incredibly bad slate. Just you wait until your founding fathers get home!

I've been a Republican most my life. Sort of went independent a few years ago. I think its a good thing that whichever party holds the white house at least the House or Senate be the opposite party. However, after watching this latest shit show and how weak the Republican leadership has been on calling out Trump and his most heinous comments I sort of hope the Republicans get destroyed. Reminds me of the Catholic Leadership or Ped State wiffle waffling on pedophile priests and still revering the enabler Joe Ped.

The last time Congress passed a full budget was in FY 2002. Both parties have all but abdicated their duties under the Constitution. The only reason I can see for it mattering which party controls the House and Senate is Congressional Approval (Advise and Consent) of Treaties.
