I was only assigned one rank in my Army career; which was cut short, because of my disabilities.
I loved being a Specialist Four: as it afforded me many great opportunities....some of which were: being a Squad Leader, being a Graduate with Honors, being a Sports Director and getting a good enough evaluation to reenlist.
-My Best, Margaret

SGT Philip Roncari I knew you were just being a smart-aleck! You made Sergeant because you were a good troop and knew how to take care of "those great unwashed." It is a good feeling to step above the fray - for about a minute - then you realize all those folks that were your friends yesterday are now looking at you to lead them, and it isn't easy anymore, is it? That was my biggest challenge making SGT in my small detachment, where my best friends and teammates were suddenly MY team!! There was all this instant pressure on my shoulders. At first, they made the pressure worse, but eventually they realized that wasn't doing any of us any good. So they straightened up and we really worked great together as a team.

SGM Dr.Dave Hatfield-Thank you for the understanding response to my postings,I was in the Army quite a few years ago and upon my return from Vietnam was assigned as an instructor to the AIT phase of training Fort Polk La. I only did a three year enlistment so I never considered myself a professional, that said I did my job and would not want anyone to think I did not do it in a profession way or not show respect to all ranks below mine and am sorry the SSgt took it the wrong way.
