Which rank do I follow?

So, my DD214 and NGB22 sate E4 but my retirement papers and any mail from the DoD state E5. Which is the correct rank?

Without orders or a DD215...Specialist it is.

You'd better get an official response from DOD before you identify yourself as either. Sounds like a simple clerical error needs fixing.

What rank were you when you were discharged? I was an E-4, but had been an E-5. I get mail saying Sgt instead of Corporal, but I was a Corporal when I was discharged so I go by Corporal.

I have given up on correcting my component. I am a Major AUS but every mail that I get from DA/DOD is addressed to Major USA. Never had a regular Commission, it reads a Reserve Officer in the Army of the United States.
