As an Airman, I would argue that Texas is very supportive and patriotic, especially in San Antonio, The Gateway to the Air Force. My morning coffee is always enjoyable, but when I pull up to the window to pay and the cashier says the woman ahead of me took care of it and said God bless you, it warms me in a way that I can't fully describe. Where have you found is greatly supportive? Or where have you found is greatly unsupportive? Which state is the most supportive/patriotic? 2015-03-20T09:23:40-04:00 TSgt Private RallyPoint Member 541549

This discussion isn't branch specific, but depending on which branch you serve in, your responses will vary. I think you are going to get whitewashed support from anywhere in the South. The Fox News crowd that wants to thank you for what you are doing, but really does not want to know what you are actually doing. I am a Southerner and my wife is as well, but I would have to say the people that truly care for service members the most is those in the Plains states. Those in Kansas/Iowa/Nebraska that don't have a lot of ties to the military really show their support when some one from the service is there. And you must take an account which way the state mostly votes liberal or conservative. His like I tell people if you vote liberal nowadays, I question your patriotism. I know that sounds rough, mean and everything else that's bad but it's true. In the last 7 years, we've lost 3 wars after winning them. Prior to 2008 we won OIF, OEF, and the Cold War. Somehow under this administration we decided to hand liberals communist and Nazis the victory on all 3. I think it's just the liberal feel-good mentality.
I used to say my state of Colorado was the most patriotic. But with our governor Hicken Looper, taken away our gun rights, telling businesses where they can drill and where they can't drill, supporting the communistic vision of common core and other things.
Hopefully we have an election that will rectify this problem here in the near future. Sorry my sound too harsh, still love y'all, you can down vote me all you want, I still have my beliefs. Maybe it's just me serving 23 years and watching us going from victory to defeat has kinda open my eyes a little bit. Or maybe it is just the area I am from. Because no matter where I go for military assignments there has always and I do mean always -so far- been someone from my hometown. Some examples as follows. My deployment someone I went to school with was there and he was reserve. Someone from my hometown is here at Fort Hood. I have 5 different normal routes for taking leave -9 if I wonder off some- and if I pass through Barksdale Afb a former co-worker is security forces there. Hometown associates in Fort Worth,TX , San Antonio,TX , Fort Campbell, Fort Bragg,NC and the list goes on. Tennessee the volunteer state. Examples: Tennessee militiamen came to defend Texans (whom they viewed as American settlers), disproportionate number of servicem members (six million citizens in the state close to 1.5 million have veteran status), and above all else it's not that Tennesseans are so supportive (which they are) it's that Tennesseans are offended by those who aren't. I was stationed in Abilene and everytime I went out to eat while in uniform my meal was covered, not to mention they had the deepest military discounts of just about anywhere.
