Right now the bathroom issue is way over the top for me SPC Rory J. Mattheisen especially since the Obama administration threatened to pull the plug on founding for each school district that doesn't comply with its use what ever bathroom you feel you should to use approach.

Several topics seem to invoke the emotions of posters. I can deal with about any. What does get me is when people post links and or opinions that say (Blank) is going to (blank) and when you look at the link or post there is nothing that say what the subject indicates.

I think posters should really consider their post rather than just forward a link that it often seems they have not even read.

Right vs. Left because our government is inept and dysfunctional because they cannot agree on anything or get anything done. Nobody wants to make their own decisions based on their own thoughts and feelings because they have to conform to the party consensus.

What about E-4 Mafia vs the real Mafia? All kidding aside I think it boils down to any loaded question that from the get go is biased. If I had to pick theology vs science - due to me being biased - it makes it really hard to stay open minded and accept a counter viewpoint.

I chose Right Vs. Left, but in reality it is much more. I hate that this country is tearing itself apart, and that we as a whole are more interested in fluff. When I choose Right Vs. Left it is because I really am at the point that I want to crush the skull of the next ignorant fuckstick that tells me I am going to waste my vote by not voting R or D. I also am coming to a point where the more politically correct the person I am talking to is, the more politically incorrect I will try to be. It is not at all about respect. It is about the spaying and neutering of America that needs to fucking stop real quick and in a hurry. Let's embrace our differences. If we disagree, bring it! I will listen to your position. I will accept that it is your beliefs. I likely won't agree, but I don't have to agree. Can we find a common ground of compromise? Then progress. Unfortunately right now we are at a point where if I say something that hurts your feelings, including disagreeing with your position, then I am automatically a bad person. How did we get to this point? You wonder why the best choice is Hillary and Donald? It is because the RNC and DNC don't have to try. All they have to do is parade about a candidate that they feel will be less offensive than the other side of the coin's candidate.

Really none of the above. It's hard to get angry about another point of view. I do however, sometimes question the level of the others cognitive ability to walk and breathe at the same time, and I'm sure they do the same about me. Just when you think that your polar oposit couldn't come up with a more ludacris idea, they prove you wrong.

None of the above. I'll discuss anything and don't mind that others do not share my opinion. In fact, I prefer discussions with those who disagree. I learn from them. I learn nothing milling around in a herd of my own kind. However, the thing that frustrates me are those who simply parrot other people's opinions on any subject about which they are ignorant. I'd rather discuss/debate with the person who formed the opinion or revealed the fact.

My pet peeve is those that support their opinions with rhetoric, spin, and/or outright lies. In today's age of technology, it is not difficult to find facts, especially on issues that have been around awhile. But, IMO, far too often folks keep going back to some old worn out line that has been disproven time and again. Facts matter. If a person has an opinion, one would think they would take the time to verify the facts, but that does not seem to be the case in many, many cases.

This hasn't happened in quite awhile, but the topic that typically brings me to the boiling point is theology vs science. I am one of those people who can reconcile my religious beliefs with scientific progress, but there have been plenty of times where if I make mention of God/religion etc I'll have the atheist crowd jumping in to criticize me for being stupid enough to believe in "fairy tales" and other such vitriol. Now I might be more understanding if I was a stereotypical Bible-thumping preacher trying to convert everyone I come across, but the majority of my beliefs I keep very private so it really grates on my nerves when they jump down my throat for the mere mention of God.

Pretty much any emotionally charged topic is difficult to have a rational conversation about. Drives me bonkers when someone tries to change/make policy or rules based off emotion instead of thought out reasoning.

Right vs. Left. Any of the others can be a productive discussion. Right vs. Left implies two extreme positions. I see both sides saying they have the answers and the other side is run by idiots. The ironic thing is, both are half right. This election is a good example. I would wager there are more people voting against a candidate than voting for one. Or said another way, voting blue or red without reading the candidate's name.

I don't care. I have a few requirements that need to be met before I do:
1. You had better be my mother or father
2. You better be able to give me extra duty and take rank away (well since that can't happen)
3. Be my wife (again not happening since I'm single)
4. Pay my bills. (My ability to GAF would end on the last day of the month and pick up when you've paid
the next months bills)
5. Whoop my ass. This could happen, and I might deserve it. I'll care and listen just until I've healed
and am ready for round two. I will win round two.
6. Bring me back into service. You'd have my undivided attention being you'd qualify for number 2.
7. This picture is important being I try to do this rather than stress out over everything.
8. With all this we can talk about everything and anything your heart desires.

So many people take articles from extremely partisan sources, and then will argue them as true until they turn blue in the face. I personally have run out of patience with many people here on RP and no longer have much interest in conversing with people who think that their religious values somehow trump another person's basic human rights.

My block list has grown rapidly of late.

Almost anything political, primarily discussions related to either gun rights or criminal justice/law enforcement issues. I am a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment and of law enforcement but many people now a days are against both for seemingly no reason other than to go with the flow and it annoys the hell out of me.

All the below when comments consist of subjective and/or emotional opinions and people feel so strongly they resort to name-calling. Here in Austin the death penalty issue raises a lot of angst in many people. I have had to drop out of most threads such as those below and block or ignore them. FB is even a bigger waste of time for issues but does come in handy for groups (eg Longmire fans) and families to keep in touch. Would like to see hot-button topics automatically directed to the appropriate 'Popular Topic' and away from the main feed.

Politics, by far. It seems the vast majority of people discuss politics solely to convince and/or attack others, but not to discuss topics rationally.
