My apologies, the second option should say Jeff Bridges not Josh Brolin. I cannot edit the survey options. Although Josh Brolin is in the new version he does not play the equivilant role of John Wayne. It was a misentry on my part.

I was a little confused when you said Josh Brolin, made me think another one was made with him as Cogburn.

I can only vote for the new one because I have never seen the old one in it's entirety. John Wayne is of course a great actor and I have no doubt the original was a great movie. I did love the newer one though. Jeff Bridges was a great choice for the Marshal and the scene with the Doctor (Bear man) was absolutely hilarious in my opinion. Have that whole scene memorized.

As much as I agree with Capt Private RallyPoint Member that the Duke was great, there is something about the new one that just resonates more with me. Rooster Cogburn is just a giant Sonofabitch in the new one, and I didn't have the same feeling with the John Wayne release. That is not to say that it is not good as well. I mean come on it is a Western with John Wayne. So in closing TSgt Melissa Post I think you needed an option C: I like both for different reasons.
