- Yes I ask about military discounts.
- No issue if the organization/business does not offer.
- Great if the organization/business does offer.
- I tend to do my business with organizations that offer military discounts in the future not because of the discount but to support organizations that support the military.

I do the exact same COL Jason Smallfield, PMP, CFM, CM. I figured there is no harm in asking and no need to get upset if the answer is no.

Same here, I recently went to the outlets in Lewes, DE over the holidays and every store but one offered a 10% Veteran/Military/LE/1st Responder discount. The one that didn't was a high-end women's clothing store where the wife shopped and I paid... Lol
No sweat in any case...

I will absolutely gravitate to business that honor the service of military and public safety personnel...

Do you know, I started feeling "embarrassed" asking; not only because the answer was NO so much but people make you feel so uncomfortable. At Barnes & Noble the clerk actually said, "Well, on Veterans Day, we do" And, I was like, "Well, we're Veterans for more than just 1 day"

you said the correct thing to Barnes & Noble. You shouldn't feel embarrassed. Like I said to the lady cutting my hair when she said we should get more was that we don't serve to be rewarded. that's not why we joined, however it does feel nice when we are recognized for what we did. So I say ask every time and stand tall and proud. there are a ton of people that take, take, take and never give what we did. Parts of our lives. Would life have been easier if I had gone to college on dad's dollar... heck yes but I wouldn't trade my time in the Navy for anything.

Lowes and Home Depot also give Veterans discounts. Sad to say most Restaurants and the movies don't. tried that one yesterday when I went to see Star Wars...LOL Oh well. Never hurts to try.

I ask if they offer a discount if I don't know. If they say yes, great. If they say no, that is fine too. I tend to shop where they offer them because it is smart. Anytime I can save money for my family, and it is legal :), I will take advantage of it. Businesses that offer me a cheaper service for my service will receive my service!
