Obviously, Patton is at the top of my list. But I feel that Major General Nathaniel Greene and Colonel Daniel Morgan of the Revolutionary War used tactics which of some can be used today. Morgan was a BG, but I believe was a Colonel at the Battle of the Cow Pens (I hope I remember correctly)

Revolutionary War, Georges Rogers Clark and Daniel Morgan.
Civil War, I would go with US Grant and William T. Sherman, with an honorable mention to Joshua Chamberlain and John Buford.
Spanish American War, Leonard Wood.
WWI, Pershing is still under rated.
WWII, Patton, I think I would include Creighton Abrams too.
