If this is a recent death you are inquiring about, try the local casualty affairs office. If you are asking about setting up future benefits, such as SBP or life insurance, talk to VA.

If youir still in and trying to set them up, see your S1. If it is a death at home and your trying to notify the soldiers command, call the Red Cross. If it's after death as a veteran, the VA or your regional Veterans Representative.

It depends. If you are talking about SBP -- the survivors benefit program related to your military pay, you talk to DFAS. If you are referring to survivirs benefits available for certain survivors of disabled veterans, contact your local vet center or send an email to us at the VA -- [login to see]
