Every interpreter I have ever worked with whether it was Bosnia, Iraq or Afghanistan was essential to the mission. I don't know how an interpreter could not be an integral part of mission success. If it wasn't for them we could not communicate effectively.

I have become close with several of my interpreters and still keep in contact with them to this day. The majority of them are living and thriving here in the United States. They were a member of the team and I always treated them as such.

Ours was Jordanian while we were in Iraq. That SOB turned on us. We have no proof, but we think the 2 VBID attacks on our FOBS within 24 hrs was plotted by him. It was great to see him with a sack over his head being hauled away.
