Who has spent time with NSW?

Any Engineman here done a NSW tour. I did one at SBT-20 for 3 years. Deployed to Africa and had some good times.

I was a commo, Radioman, and did my last tour at Team 6. Received training and did things I never would've gotten anywhere else.

I was the Anti-terrorism/Force Protection Officer at NSWHQ (WarCom) from 1997-1999. best shore command I was ever at. I knew it could never be beat, so I retired after 23 years!

I was a Gunners Mate on PBRs (Combatant Craft) at SBU XI from 1989 through 1995. Loved it and wish I could have stayed longer!

I'm not an EN. I was a QM1(SW) and MA1(SW). I trained with SEAL Team 10 when I was going through my VBSS and other special ops schools at Blackwater Lodge, NC in 2002.

Occasionally we worked with SEALs during VBSS and other ops.

I spent five years working with NSCT1(VswMcm Det) Coronado. I worked the boat shop, helped drive boats and ended up doing R&D projects at SPAWARS. Great tour. 00-04, We were a mixed bread of operators, EOD, Seal, and Marine Recon, and then up boat support homies, oh ya can't for get the mammals.

One of the most versatile platforms in the Navy was the Austin Class LPD. As CMC of USS Nashville (LPD-13) I can say she was used in a variety or missions. I do not think we ever went on a major deployment without a Seal Det. along as part of the crew and mission. At times we were used as a training platform for practice in taking over a ship at sea by both Seal Teams and Delta Force. Additionally, SBS used us as a launch and recovery vessel in the Med while working with our Seal Team. So, yes LPD-13 was working with and our crew spent time with NSW.

I did a tour as a Dept Head (CW03) at the Center in Coronado but that was years after being an ENCS.

Assigned to ST2 for three years back late 80s till discharged in 90. Gunner's Mate in ordinance department. Worked with a few throughout my Reserve time off and on. Best group of people around in my opinion.

Never been assigned to, or attached to NSWC or SWCC, but while onboard an un-named amphibious vessel, we did have their direct action component embarked several times. Really impressive folks to observe and learn from.

Had a few occurrences with NSW back in '88 and '89, both training and combat action related via our LPD class, reconfig'd to AGF, command flag ship. Never was in long enough though to get assigned to any NSW related duties.

Was never assigned to NSW but did some Work for DEVGRU when they came to a couple places i was at for training. It was nice because the work environment was relax and we did not have to wear our hard hats and got to relax our uniform because of how hot and Humid it was. I remember telling the Chief we could not take off our hard hats or unblouse our boots if our command catches up we could be in Deep crap. He said your on a secure compound they cant come in with our us knowing we can give you plenty of warning.

While I was stationed on the USNS Pecos, we occasionally were used as a training platform for SQT students learning VBSS. Those guys were just a little motivated, LOL.

I was assigned to SEAL Team One from December, 1970 to May, 1972 as the Electronics Department Head. I went from ETN2 to ET1 and received a Navy Achievement Medal for that service. I was one of three enlisted department heads and the only non-operator in that position. It was the highlight of my eight years. Most days we wore UDT swim trunks and reversible blue-gold tees or Marine fatigues.

I spent three years at NSWG3 DET Little Creek in the boat shop working on 8 meter RHIB and Zodiac F470's with Evinrude outboards.

Served 6 years at SBU XI Mare Island. GMG1 assigned to Armory and to several PBRs. Also crewed on Mini ATCs, PBLs, and Zodiacs. Loved it. Lots of good memories
