This is my plan. I checked CMP today and they still did not have any information posted. Of course, it will also depend on how much they cost. I just traded a Springfield Armory stainless steel M1911A1 this fall but kept two of the magazines just in case this happened.

The article sounds like a bunch of hype to buy very used handguns. If I need a handgun, I will buy a new one, so I know it is in good shape.

I'm not so sure I'm keen on the idea of buying a used military weapon. Who knows exactly how many rounds have been fired through it over the years?

I have purchased several guns from CMP. I dont have a single regret. That being said I do not look for CMP to sell the 1911 anytime soon if at all. They are not set up to sell pistols. They still say they will not sell them.

In the past when surplus weapons that the cmp did not sell came on the market they were purchased in large lots at auction by various dealers, I look for this to be the case here. My best guess is they will average in the 600 range. Some cheaper some more expensive.

Oh my, Plenty of History, Plenty of Knock Down Power, A Military Classic. No I would pass. Every one I ever shot was very "Life Experienced" and had a lot of play in it. The Only One I ever liked Shooting and was very accurate with was my Dept Heads (He was on the Naval Shooting Team) was his 45 with the Weighted Competition Barrel.

Defniitely. But as a shop owner I hope to pick up a few. I already have my Gramps' Colt that he passed down to my Uncle, that came to me when he passed in Feb. Would like to have an SA and an Ithaca.

If I can afford it, I'll be buying one! My dad gave me one when I was a kid. Very low serial number. Anyway he needed money and ended up selling it while I was in the military.....:(
