Who is prior service and went through the Army basic again? How was your experience? How the drill sergeants treat you?

I’m only days from re-enlisting back into the army and I was informed they are getting rid of the prior service basic training and I would have to attend the army full basic training. Who is prior Service and have went through the army basic again? How was your experience? How the Drill Sergeants treat you?
Also I’m AIT do you sleep with the other trainiees (privates)?

When I got a prior service going through Basic and AIT again I gave them the opportunity to step up into leadership. If they took the mantle of leadership I treated them very well. If they wanted to play private I let them be a private. I had a former Marine E-6 go through it all again. He had even been a DI in the Corps. Hell, I depended on him. He had more service than I did at the time. He was a good sounding board with the soldiers in training and became a friend. If I could have given his strips back I would have. Had another Friend have to go through AIT again. He and I went through reception, basic, leadership school,Infantry AIT and NCO school together. Same thing. Had a couple that wanted to be privates they were upset they had to go through training again. I treated them like the privates they were.

Well I can't say about BCT but I would think AIT no, most of the reclasses etc when I was at Leonardwood got two man rooms down the hall. Regular AIT students had the big bays.

Wait, rather than going back to the old Warrior Transition Course, they are making people go through the full 10 week BCT, again? Wasn't the old Warrior Transition Course like 4 weeks?

We had a prior service Marine in my basic training platoon when I went (I have not been to basic again and I never would if I ever got out). He was like 42. The drill sergeants were a little easier on him after a certain point. But he was the male high PT performer for our platoon...at 42.

When I was in AIT we had some reclass with us in class. But I don't think they stayed in the same barracks as us. Depends on the AIT. That was reclass though. Since you're going again you'll probably be in the barracks with brand new IET kids.

Don't "sleep" with them though...

Prior Air Force Master Sergeant (E-7) heading to Army BCT (Ft. Benning) as a Sergeant First Class (E-7) in 3 weeks. What does basic look like as an E-7?

Currently about halfway through BCT right now. I can surely say that it varies by Company.

I am also prior service E-4 and have been out for 19 years. Thinking about going back into the guard and am being told I have to go they basic again. I am just wondering how the experience will be. The recruiter is saying they treat you differently from the new raw recruits.

Did it last year! (2019-2020) I was an e4 in the navy and got out yrs ago. Came back into the national guard. Went through bct like everyone else. It was just like my first time. Probably because I got out as an e4 and it was years back. Got treated just like everyone else. But I killed it at pt so no one paid any attention to me. I probably said four words the entire 10 wks. It sucked but glad I did it! One of the drill sgts at the end said ‘I wish they were all like u. It’s almost like you’ve already been here.’ Had to remind him I already had.
Ait for prior service is way better. Very chill. Lived in the prior service barracks. Actually worked a part-time civilian job on the side while completing the six months of training. Overall, it was kind of garbage. But it was easy. Re-learned how to be in the military. And I really like the guard. I’m actually on deployment with them right now and picked up e5 super quick.
