I agree with PO3 Shaun Taylor. Congress is the greatest threat to our troops. Right now our troops are understood by a decreasing population in Congress, since fewer and fewer of them have ever served. We seem to be units of currency rather than humans to Congress.

I would have to say that it would the politicians as well, with the way that they play fast and loose with certain aspects of the government and then with the way that they act with regards to the Military, and their lack of support or even concern as too what it is that we need.

Our own nations populous and its ignorance towards war. Failure to educate itself and have a voice. To be an aware people of history, beliefs, etc. in order to make not only informed decisions, but have a better grip on discernment and common sense. Lack of voter turn out to vote candidates in who can and will represent the people with a backbone. I'll also add this... in order to get some better candidates to even chose from, we have to get the swath of money out of the equation to make it a sacrifice to serve the people and return to private life after instead of a lucrative career seat.

Our biggest threat...is our own stupidity. We are too cocky. We think any opponent is stupid and has no skills or war-fighting ability. We broadcast everything about ourselves, our unit, our unit's capabilities and worst our units weaknesses. We broadcast where we're going, when we're gonna do it, how we're gonna do it and why we're gonna do it. Our enemies don't need to do any research and spying on us - we broadcast it on FB, twitter, pinterest, etc, etc, etc. We tell the enemy our capabilities and our weaknesses - all courtesy of FB, etc.

American apathy.

The problem isn't in the Executive branch; the problem isn't even Congress.

The problem is a growing apathy in the U.S. which lead to the Great Depression and allowed for 2 conflicts to grow into World Wars because we didn't want to deal with anything.

Now, we'd rather just bomb another country based on "reasons" I mean, "freedom", but we don't want to do anything about fixing our medical system, our infrastructure, our economy, or our legal system.

And then we try to blame people WE elected into office. That's like me giving a guy a baseball bat, and then blaming the baseball bat and not the idiot who's trying to hit me with it.

During my time in. The military has done a 180 on Safety and PPE but still not convinced that we have achieved Nirvana yet. As a profession we work with some seriously nasty hazmat in a very rough environment and over time we still seem to be paying the Price. Military Housing built on Ammo Dumps where the stuff was just buried. Depleted Uranium (Depleted doesn't mean no longer "warm"). I hope this Generation of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines doesn't have their Agent Orange that we discover several years later.

Definitely insider threat. The military is comprised of many strong individuals who will stand for each other and fight for the survival of our country. The military is more than capable of handling many threats but the most insidious threat is the one inside. With well too many people having an active disdain and hatred for the military, it's no surprise politicians get elected who share those emotions or pander to them. The military has become more of a social experiment instead of the strong defense mechanism for the country. Instead of standing up and addressing these issues, too many leaders have been seduced by power, which this in turn breeds more toxic leaders as well as pushes out the really good ones.

When, we point fingers at each other no one wins. The greatest threat is ourselves the human experience ,not understanding why we treat each other the way we do. Not being true to our selves, the true nature of people isn't full of goodness, if that was the case we wouldn't be asking this question. The true question should be why do these threat exist, for centuries many cultures have been at armies with each other, our influences today maybe far reaching, it's a smoke screen. Politicians are puppets to a bigger issue, the devolve of our constitution making an even level field with the so call super powers.

We the (ill-informed, pacifist, lazy, apathetic) People aka voters who allow smooth talking, self serving, ILK leadership to get into office. IF you try to disassociate yourself yourself from the above adjectives ASK YOURSELF...are you better off than you were 6 years ago. Embedded and instant media, and social media. All started in ODS. It really sucked the life out of moral when we found out what was going on by watching a scratchy TV with CNN. I do not think that the media should be able to report live from the front and there should be a time delay to stories. I know that some may agree, and some may not. These are just my thoughts on the issue.

The Greatest Threat to US troops are our own Citizens, the fact that half of our society have no clue what we do, why we do what we do and how much we are compensated for our service. Also, adding to the confusion is a liberal biased media that only reports on the negative that our service members endure and a political realm living in their glass houses that most have no clue of anything having to do with the military nor how to adequately support us, or take care of us following retirement and separation.
