Who is your favorite fictional General/Admiral?

George Patton as played by George Scott was a fitting portrayal but so were some other General/Admirals. These people either were fictional or based upon historical facts. Who among these or others would you classify as the best?

Please do not get hung up on technicalities or there will be article 15s, enmasse. LOL

I'm partial to SG-1 so Hammond has to get my vote. It was just a TV show, but he got leadership right and gave a younger me a lot to think about.

Brigadier General Frank Savage (played by Gregory Peck) in the movie, 12 O'Clock High. I liked the no nonsense approach he took to establishing order and discipline, although he wasn't so immediately good with the morale side of things.

I'm confused. The question at hand is "Who is your favorite fictional General/Admiral?" and then we are presented with two historical personalities and two fictional ones, and I don't necessarily like either fictional choice. I guess I'll have to go with "Other".

However, if you were to hold my feet to the fire, I'd have to ignore the "fictional" part of the question and go with Patton, the real personality, not the actor. Certainly not the actor. Scott was not a particularly admirable person.

I remember watching Truman Capote on the Tonight Show when Johnny Carson was still hosting it. He made the comment that "All actors are stupid and the better they are as actors, the more stupid they are."

Carson quickly distanced himself from the comment: "Send the cards and letters to him folks. I didn't say that."

The next night he had Capote back to defend himself with Scott to defend actors. Sadly, Scott made Capote's case for him...

General Hammond (Stargate), General O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson was actually made an honorary USAF BG), Admiral Chedwiggen (JAG), Admiral Kirk (Star Trek), good great fictional Flags. Admiral Forrest (Star Trek: Enterprise) and Admiral Ross (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) I've not seen enough of to tell. Admiral Kelly (James Bond: Tomorrow Never Dies), though very shortly seen, was a calm, cool warrior too.
However, the fictional portrayal of a historical leader found in the Horatio Hornblower tv-movie series, Admiral Sir Edward Pellew, I think tops them all in my book.

Caveat: Since for the UK he's not "flag", the Brigadier (Lethbridge-Stewart) in Doctor Who can't make the list. But if he could, he'd go to the top as well.
