They don't recognize Jesus and the Son of God, because, in their eyes, the idea of the Triune (aka Holy Trinity, 3 separate beings making up God in Christianity) takes away from the Supreme power of one true God.

I would make the further assumption that many in our ranks would have studied Islam in an effort to "know thine enemy," but judging from some of the postings I've seen here on RP (not in this thread), that clearly is not the case.

Judaism, Christianity, and Islam ALL worship the SAME God (though they may use a different name)... Unfortunately, just like when you play the telephone game and don't get information firsthand, there are errors in the Islamic account of history.

Muslims recognize Jesus as a prophet who was fully human, like Muhammed. They just see Muhammed as being the greater prophet. And like so many Biblical stories that are retold in Islam, they get history wrong. For example, Muhammed confuses the story of David vs. Goliath with the story about Gideons Army and mixes the two events together even though there was more than a generation separating these events. In the Qu'ran they have Jesus saying things he never said as they aren't recorded in any of the Biblical texts.

How could Muhammed know the words of Jesus almost 600 years after his death? If Allah told him, should we believe it when Allah overlooked details of Creation and other stories in the Old Testament and gave an account that differs from the historical record?

Muslims don't grasp the Christian concept of the Trinity and thus lump Christians into the polytheist category. That gives Christians the option to convert or die. They view Muhammed as being the greatest of the prophets and example of the perfect man that they should all seek to emulate. Just don't draw his picture. His followers might get offended and try to kill you in the name of their peaceful religion.
