Lol, I wish the shamming rumors were true sometimes but I've never had the chance to make up my own hours since becoming a Warrant Officer. Even as a SPC, I didn't have much time to sham either. My sham time was between PVT-PFC, ever since making SPC, I've been on the go. Maybe one day I'll get to leave an extra PC and ACU top at my desk before I retire.

I have seen this technique along with a full cup of coffee. I have also seen where they rigged the coffee cup where it remains hot to give off an aroma. Good stuff.

I remember aboard ship you'd never see an E-5 around. E-6s had to be visibly interested in making Chief. E-4s got dumped on. And I got dumped on a lot.

My old PSG had the entire platoon go out and "survey a hill" in the woods.... When in actuality the Division commander was in the building and random platoons were getting put on cleaning duties, etc.... Outta sight out of mind! I can tell you it was the best nap I've had in a while

Having been a Marine, I can't speak for the Army, but I think that our LCpl's used to "sham" better than our Warrant Officers. They were never around when you needed them!

Well, considering that almost every chief was an E-4 at one time, I think WO's hold the advantage here. Not only do they have the experience of being in the E-4 mafia, they now have authority to tell everyone else what their job is, since no one seems to know what WO's do in the first place..... ;o)

As the son of a second generation warrant, and one who grew up around the WOLF pack, I can say without a doubt that E4s are the bigger shammers here.

Warrant Officers get out of a lot of BS, but they also earned it. WOCS is nothing to spit at, especially when my Dad went through. Plus there's something to be said about someone who dedicates that much time to being an expert in their field.

The short version? E4s fuck off and dodge working parties, and Warrant Officers do their job then dodge the pointless formations. What are they gonna do? Fire them? Ha!

While in an infantry unit I was able to baffle the 1st Sargeant with bullshit because I was commo . There was always equipment maitainance to complete. It was a great excuse the frequency crystals in the radios and satcom gear needed to be replaced.

Definitely E4s. I am a WO. I chose not to participate in all the BN F***ery, but I am plenty busy doing other things, usually trying to actually make a mission/exercise happen, while everyone else is stuck in mandatory BN F***ery.

I would definitely have to say E-4s on this one. Don't get me wrong, I have definitely tried. We do PT with our crew chiefs. When not flying I am always working on my 5 additional duties and working longer hours then when I was enlisted. Maybe different units are different though.

Doing some thinking over here, I think Warrants still exist in the AF. Think about it, they've master the art of sham so much, they've removed themselves from the ranks. And soon to be retired CW4 and everyone in formation, including the Company commander (AF equivalent) is wondering who the hell this Airman is.

Being in the Air Force and having quite a few Army buddies, I knew about Warrant Officers and their reputation but I never thought I would ever see one until I got to Korea. I see them all the time, but now that I think about it, I only see them as I scan their ID onto base...

It's gotta be Warrant Officer, they have a lot more to lose. I would think a CWO would be on a long term career path whereas many E-4 are probably heading for ETS and the coveted DD-214. I know, I know, you have to spend time as either SPC 4 or Corporal prior to being promoted to SGT (E-5.)
