The 82nd is the parent of the 101st, and therefore has the advantage.<br />And for those of you wolfing "air assault", you are lacking in understanding that assault by helicopter is only one aspect of the arts of vertical envelopment, and that the 82nd is also a practitioner of that particular art.<br />And for those of you claiming "If you want it done, call the 101st", excuse me but the 82nd is the one on the speed dial of the White House in case of emergencies. How often do you have to repel to stay current? Air Asssult school was the easiest army school I ever went to. Having said that: in 5 years at JRTC, hands down 82nd is a better unit. They are more aggressive and more technically and tactically proficient. In fact, outside of 1st cav, they were the worst unit to come through there. We had all four brigades come back, to back, to back, to back in 2006. Don't believe me?
