Leadership is solving problems. The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help or concluded you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership.

The VA, IMHO, is a case where you need to burn it to the ground and start over. There are so many problems within the VA that have been institutionalized that removing 1 person, even a Secretary, is not going to change a damn thing.

LTC Paul Labrador, Removing only one person is so asinine they might as well not remove anyone. The employees aren't going to rock the boat. They know if they do they are out of a job. I'm talking from the janitors and up. Several of the big dogs will have to be removed at the same time to get their attention. We need someone who gives a crap and will do the right thing, and not sit on their ass talking about Disneyland. What a POS.

I admire Colin Powell and thought highly of General Shinseki. Unfortunately, it won't matter who takes the job --- too much interference from Congress and from the union.

I don't think anyone can solve the issues involved with the Department of Veterans' Affairs in any amount of prescribed time. He's working on it.
