As of Late I will vote for whoever offends me the Least. While I am very big on Separation of Church and State. My Old School Catholic Values due influence my Opinion. If you are against "Social Justice" I am against you. If you are against "Loving Thy Neighbor" I am against you. While we have definitely become way too liberal and irresponsible, I wouldn't necessarily vote for a Tea Party candidate. Most are pretty decent but, like in all groups, there are some idiots. I will vote for the person who is honest, respects and loves the country, understands and respects true freedom, has a good record and stands BY their record (even their mistakes), and can articulate good positive ideas to continuously improve the country. I want to hear what each one says and what they have done. If they support strong values then they will get my vote.

I am sure whoever ends up on the ballot for both parties will be as worthless as past choices. As much as I hate to say it, i fear we will be stuck with choosing the lessor of two evils.

I hope that Rand Paul of Kentucky is on the ballot, he is the one I would like to see in the oval office. As long as there is no Bush, Clinton, or Obama on the ticket, it could be promising.

Yet again, a politician is a politician. I do think that America can send a strong signal to anyone considering running for president by voting out all the trash that is up for reelection this year. Maybe they will get the hint that we the people have spoken. There have already been some long time politicians that have lost primaries in their respective states.

This mid-term election can set the stage for the presidential elections in 2016

I would like to see less partisanship in politics. MOST people in America have 0 idea how their votes and decisions make an impact.

To Vote for ANY party (particularly the extremes, Tea Party or ultra-liberal) based on party is foolish. Parties essentially tell YOU what you should be thinking and what they will do in the name of their party, instead of letting you think for yourself. We are accomplishing nothing while we have this political "shootout" every election cycle. The dems do something, then the repubs repeal it and do something else, then the dems repeal it.

Partisan politics and their "hot button" issues will destroy America. People are more concerned with (often fake) stories of martial law, gay marriage and abortion than with fixing things that actually need fixing.

Way to early to decide, Have to see what shakes out. Just early posturing right now and no real candidates. As far as my Politics, I was a Compassionate Conservative but in Todays Politics with the extreme Right Shift that Makes me a Flaming Liberal which I will wear the Title with Pride. So far the parties choice candidates have fallen far short of the mark. Since JFK the parties have shunned veterans as too aggressive, and the resulting erosion of civil liberties has increased exponentially. Personally I'd like to see a grass roots search for a write in candidate with a history such as a Marine sniper, Special operations medical, (ie:Airborne nurse, Special Forces Aidman, Air Force Pararescue.etc.) even General Norman Schwartzkopf or Colin Powell would do. Someone who has at least gone toe to toe with the real world. It would be really nice to escape the fantasy island complex the US has fallen into.

My ideal president:

1) LOVES America.
2) Honorably Discharged from any branch of the military.
3) Has no problem producing a birth certificate when asked.
4) Doesn't have records sealed hiding things.
5) Has some kind of experience in politics further than community organizer.
6) Backs up what he/she says.
7) Doesn't blame everyone else or past administrations for their own short comings.
8) Doesn't use executive action when congress says no - this isn't a dictatorship.
9) Doesn't jump into to small town or state business where the White House has no business whatsoever.
10) Serves in the office as President of the United States of America with honor, dignity and a degree of humility for the trust the public has bestowed him/her with.

I will vote for:
Someone who is courageous enough to stand for their principles, whether or not they are popular, whether or not I happen to agree.

Someone who will do what they say, and say what they mean.

Someone who will be able to articulate why it is imperative and in the Nation's interest to place my unit and me in harm's way, who will give me the resources to meet an enemy and defeat them wherever they are.

Someone who will not insult my intelligence by yelling "Squirrel!" every time an inconvenient fact comes to light. If you or the people in your administration does something questionable, explain yourself.

Someone who will be able to properly figure out that there is plenty of money to go around in a $4+ trillion budget, and if there is not enough in one pot of money, there might be too much in a different one BEFORE we raise taxes or cut essential services.

Someone who understands that winning an election by 2% does not give you a monopoly on good ideas. The other party might just have an idea that works.

In short, I can't vote for a single person among the likely candidates, unless they can convince me they represent the values above.

If not, I guess I will hold my nose and choose the least bad candidate (again).

Can we write in Gordon Gecko? I just want a fiscal conservative. I am so tired of having to tighten my belt while watching the government essentially write checks with red ink.

The answer for me is not to raise taxes. The answer is to reduce spending. I don't get to just go to my employer and say... I need more money because everything costs too much. I have to reduce my costs and spend less. The government is a not-for-profit enterprise and should operate as such.

Unfortunately, due to the establishment of the 'electoral college' - it doesn't matter what the 'popular vote' chooses - the 'electoral college' is the only group that actual picks the presidential outcome. Many an election would have changed if the actual vote of the people had been the deciding factor and not a small group of people deciding for the masses. Go back through election results county by county and you get a different out come in various years - if the electoral vote didn't exist.

I want a candidate that truely believes in the real mean of the consituation just like our four fathers did when they wrote. A candidate that will unite the people of this country to believe in the country and its appointed officials again, put aside the politics of their political party and do what is best for the country. Put limits and restrictions on governmnet assitence, fix the real issues of immragation, taxes, the deficit, and forgein policy.

I know that sounds like a lot, but I believe if we put the right person their with time it can be done. However we need to unite the parties and the people of this great country for it to happen.

Democrats have the economic philosophy of Eisenhower (R) back when the GOP also used Keynesian economics and I'm a very socially liberal person. In all honesty, I would have trouble voting for anyone who doesn't have an (I) next to their name. Neither Republicans nor Democrats have the interests of the people at heart. Only the party line for them. So, when election time is closer, I'll do research on the independent candidates and vote for one of them.

Depends on who is running. If by some miracle Sen. Paul is able to overcome establishment resistance and get on the ballot then I will likely vote for him. He is more socially conservative than I would really prefer, but I could overlook that in order to support a viable candidate who has a sense of fiscal responsibility. If it ends up being Clinton vs. Romny or some nonsense like that I will probably vote Libertarian in protest like I did in 2012.

I would like to hear a presidential candidate answer 50% of the debate questions with "It's none of the Federal Government's business to set policy on that issue"

Examples:
- Gun control: What works in New Jersey isn't going to work in Alaska.
- Marriage: It's a religion based ritual... government should stay out of marriage and divorce.
- Drugs: More people overdose on prescription meds each year than die in car accidents, while I don't condone the use of drugs (or alcohol to excess for that matter) I think the amount of money we spend trying to stop the unstoppable is insane.

I will be called crazy for this, but I really think the best bet for the United States is either Vice President Biden, or Governor Huntsmen. In the end I see both as being ready to unite the country through just making sense, and talking through things calmly. While the Vice President has spent the last 6 years being willing to look like the rube, for the political show he is an intellectual who accomplished great things as a Senator. Governor Huntsmen sounds like he has good head on his shoulder and again makes sense on why he thinks what he thinks. Both men I could trust that I wouldn’t always agree with them, at least I would understand them.

For me I do not need a Veteran, what I would however prefer is basically a Blue Star President, I would like to know that they were willing to send their children into the military, and understand the true human toll of the war from what I think is very important angle. The Governor’s sons are in the US Navy, and if I remember right so is one of the Vice President’s; though I think it was JAG sort of reservist deal. I don’t want to know who would sacrifice themselves for this country, I think most are ready to do that in a pinch (Even most civilians), but how many would sacrifice their child’s life for this country; I think the numbers are drastically different. They are also telling of who believes in this country and their full level of devotion.

While I understand your logic, electing someone of the extreme opposite political spectrum would be political suicide for conservatives.

In my opinion, many educated conservatives AND liberals want something more in the middle, as opposed to more on the polar extremes. The Tea Party is just as seemingly aggressive as the Socialists are on the other side. If changes don't happen in the first 2-4 years of a party's majority, that party loses credibility and anything affiliated (Republican...etc, in this case) will never be elected again...or at least not for a while.

Libertarians are less extreme on either side, and probably a more realistic option, as many conservatives AND liberals have joined this movement. It promotes less control of anything, and for people to mind their own business, in so many ways.

With today's political atmosphere, the media wants control of which party gets elected... the president controls very little compared to congress and senate, and the president's party matters very little compared to who majority controls congress and senate. As Americans start paying more attention to trends and (hopefully) start to look at history as opposed to hot-button issues (gun control, abortion, religion) for their political guidance, I think we will find people more willing to stop the party line voting, and start accepting a major 3rd party.

I heard Gov Christie last week here in NH. Very down to earth, but didn't come off presidential. I think I need to hear more from Carson, Paul and Rubio before I can choose. I think it will be interesting what repackaging the GOP is going to do for their message.

I'm a die hard republican, so I will need to see all the candidates and how they perform during the primaries. My decision will rest on a number of factors:

1. Foriegn Policy Experience
2. Healthcare reforms (Not happy with Obama care)
3. How they view the armed forces of america
4. How they will be viewed and respected in the world community
5. Are they willing to work with Congress

I could go on, but that is a pretty good starting point for me.
