Why are there so many Political posts on RallyPoint? I thought this was the place for veterans and veterans issues. Disappointed?

Just like everything else in life, what something starts off as......morphs into something different down the road. And I know I'm guilty of it from time to time.

I AGREE...We are posting political, religious, orientation and other topics that have nothing to do with veterans, active duty, and veterans issues. Some do but most don't. Most people are turning RP into Facebook and I am about to pull my plug on it because too many people get angry when they post something saying they want an honest discussion and when you give an opinion, you get lambasted and you are called archaic, racist, homophobe, one sided, sexist, misogamist, fill in whatever term you want here and it turns into internet warfare. I am about done.

RallyPoint is reflective of what is happening around us. While of course we have seen a spike in political posts, RallyPoint remains to be a place where Active Duty Service Members and Veterans can come to voice their ideas among their peers. Is the number of political posts borderline "crazy", as one of the Senior User Admins, I would say yes but within that is the beauty of this site. Here you can come, voice your thoughts in a respectful and constructive manner and get some great insight to a lot of different topics.

It's a sign of the troubled times we live in. You'll notice that the majority of the political posts come from a relatively small number of RP members (including myself). For my part I try to post questions and topics that run counter to the highly vocal and often derogatory left. However, I don't think that questions regarding Military Service, Experience, and Veteran's Issues are being ignored.

I do not believe you can separate the military from politics. The military is affected by the politics of this country and so they are intertwined. You could skip over the politics because there is a lot of good and helpful information that comes out of Rally Point, you just have to search out the good and skip what may not interest you. Lt Col Shuttleworth hope you don"t bail.

Have not been on for a while because of it. Scrolled through today and got bored because other than yours, that was all I saw. Granted, I did not go too deep on my search because the theme was so glaringly obvious. If I wanted to endlessly argue politics I'd just go over to FB.

Yes I am disapointing that we would bring politics here not sure what I'm into I thought this was a place for veterans we have enough division we should not be divided Within we should be fighting for the common cause

The last thing I want is for Rally Point to become Facebook. Though FB is a great forum, it has become a hunting ground for “SJW” and “Keyboard Warriors”. Not 100% of the case but I’m sure you see my point. Why has Rally Point become so political charged the last few years? My view point is this: America’s foundation is at stake. I, as well as you all have put our family, life and self on the line and on hold for the greatest country ever. The good ol’ USA. It matters to me personally and professionally that this great country stays that way. Let’s meet here as veterans remembering we all fought for the freedoms and rights of all Americans.
