Brad Bryant jr 5968569

Ok so yesterday my recruiter and were supposed to be looking at the jobs available to me. I scored a 47 on the asvab which would put me in the bravos section for those who score a 49 and below. My recruiter thinks right now that meps is only handling alphas who score 50 and above. Would you have any intel on that. Why cant my recruiter pull up mos's available to me ? 2020-06-04T09:01:14-04:00 Brad Bryant jr 5968569

Ok so yesterday my recruiter and were supposed to be looking at the jobs available to me. The military takes scores and Backgrounds and fills from the top. Depending on the number of available recruits who score higher will get first choice. If there are more qualified recruits than positions the recruiter would have nothing to show you. It can be a waiting game, keep your options open. Large pool of highly qualified applicants wanting in the military. Low asvab score on your part.

Pretty much 3 options
1. Retake asvab and get a better score and better chance of a job you want (my recommendation)
2. Go to MEPS and process swear in and take what they have
3. Delay enlistment hoping they have something open up you want with your scores (doubtful) Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 4 at 2020 2:30 PM 2020-06-04T14:30:55-04:00 2020-06-04T14:30:55-04:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 5969647

Recruiters are shooting fish in a barrel right now with the economy. Use this time to your advantage. I did the split-op thing where I went to basic the summer of my junior year, came back and finished my senior year and graduation high school. I attended weekend drills during the school year, and learned what I would actually be doing. My MOS was merely filling in a slot that they hardly utilized. I went to AIT, and I retook the ASVAB later. Then, I went to MOSQ to officially be qualified to do my job as a tank mechanic. They can look up every job and see if your line scores qualify you.
Its not like they sit there and only let in people based solely upon their ASVAB. If you qualify, they can get you in.
With a 47, I can get you in by the end of next week, if you otherwise qualify. With that score many MOS's will not be open for you. Either study and try to re take the test, wait till they have something open with thst score, or move on. At least you are trying, thats good, and thank you. My wife and I just had this conversation with our daughters recruiter although as far as we know it only effects those who are juniors in high school who wish to join. We were also told that she would have the chance to retake the asvab approximately 3-4 weeks after the natural conclusion of the school year.
