Why did you choose RallyPoint over other Social Media?

I have been on various social media platforms but I will say I greatly enjoy RallyPoint. Not only is it a great military networking site but it is not any of the others. I will say that I am seeing a trend of random questions here. I honestly can't tell if I am on Facebook or some other social media site anymore.

What do you think really sets RallyPoint apart from your other social media accounts. Do you see trends overlapping from one to another? I really enjoy the intellectually stimulation and professional development here. Some stuff I pass over some others. Some I think are nothing more than a pat on the back. Some topics are so far off base I am lost as to why they are here. I wish I could zip them to Facebook or Instagram. I have those already.

I have seen some others say the same thing. Maybe I am just taking this all too serious. But I believe in what RallyPoint is doing. I don’t want it to be a military Facebook. I just think we as a whole should really look to contribute to the community rather than just participate. There is a difference. I promise is there is a Gym Selfie discussion I will do everything in my power to kill it.

Am I alone in seeing this? Do you think RallyPoint is heading in the right direction? Or am I just to serious?

You can also access it directly from the link below. Give it a try to just focus on those discussions, and then let us know if you enjoy that better perhaps?

No CPT Private RallyPoint Member, you are not alone.

I came to RallyPoint to talk to other veterans about military matters, veteran issues, and to possibly do a little reminiscing about the "good old days" ... I did not come here to discuss politics or religion (especially religion), or to share awesome photos, or to participate in any other discussion that doesn't have some nexus to the military (I can get on Facebook if I want that).

I like RallyPoint, I just hope it doesn't continue down the path it seems to be going.

I like RP, I can communicate with military personnel and who can understand me. Plus, the dialogue on RP is not Facebook which you have basically anything goes on that site!

I chose RP because I don't like to see a bunch of pictures of someone's food, hear a bunch of whining that a person couldn't find something at the mall, or see a bunch of self obsessed peoples "selfies". My wife does the whole Facebook thing and some of the posts from the people on her page just about makes my eyes roll back into my head. At least here there are some good discussions that I can put my two cents into and read the views of people that I can relate to. Another positive is that if I see a discussion that I wouldn't be interested in, I don't have to click into it.

I like RP, as it is a place to discuss issues with like minded people, and to assist others with questions and concerns. I also like it, as I can get feedback on topical issues.

I was on http://navy.togetherweserved.com/ for the longest time, but it too was turning into a military Facebook. Or retirees (especially those who retired with higher ranks, such as E-9) would think that they were back on active duty again and try to get active service members in trouble for something they said or for "disrespecting them."

I still have a membership on NTWS but rarely check it anymore. Most of my friends from there have transitioned over to Facebook and I have also seen quite a few of them on RP as well.

I didn't choose one over the other. I use many forms of social media: Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and of course, RallyPoint. I get something different from each one.

At first, I was just looking for battle buddies and those I served with in the past.

I chose to stay with RallyPoint as a connection with actual veterans, a website with integrity, and a lack of ads.

I post as a way to pay it back, and help where I can. I look for guidance and lessons learned so I don't have to make the mistakes myself.

To RallyPoint Admin I say this, 'Your it, until you die, or I find someone better.' (Starship Trooper).

I have RP. FB. A Few groups on FB and then live with A Pulse groups.

Although I am on Facebook and other social media, I am only on them mainly to keep up with what others are up to. Otherwise it is usually filled with too much drama for my liking. I can see much more informative and decent conversations going here on RP than anywhere else.

Who said I choose? I am at a job that I get counseled for doing to fast (not wrong too fast), and I have more than one monitor. I got them all open on my screen at once. It's social overload up in here. But really I just kind of miss the military minded people. Civilians just don't have the same sense of humor and train of thought.

The thing that sets Rally Point apart from other social media, is it's members. We've all served and we can have discussions here that we can't have on FB. I follow a lot of Infantry/Army pages on FB and some of the serious discussions turn into a meme free for all and people don't get the answers they need. On the CPL Thog NCO Club page they do a meme rule suspension on a Friday or Saturday so we can blow off steam and have some fun, but the rest of the time there are some serious discussions. The difference with RP is that we have all ranks involved in the discussions so everyone can have there say and there is a lot of good input

All of the social media sites will show what is current and relevant to each individual who uses it. Just the cross section of society here , is serving, or has served our great country. I love the Idea of Rally Point! I am proud to be here , with only Vets.

I use RallyPoint to pass time because it doesn't require CAC authentication. It helps broaden my knowledge on general military topics.

For more productive collaboration I use MilBook.

I find Rally Point serves several of my needs. First it provides a forum of informed and civil discussion with few exceptions. Secondly you can address military related issues without having to explain what you are talking about to someone. Third there is little or no garbage. Fourth the discussions are frank and while civil they do not unnecessarily defer to rank. In other words rank does not get in the way of an honest answer. I guess fourth it is joint in that I can find out what issues are rising in other services as well.

My wife and I are here as Civilians who have Family who are Veterans of every U.S. conflict going back to WWII. We're here after our research to find, ally and partner with Veteran owned businesses as we're launching U.S. Veterans Radio on Independence day this year.

As our backgrounds are in media and after 8 years of doing radio in New York City and having numerous interviews over time with veterans dealing with ongoing veterans issues, we're finally launching US Veterans Radio specifically with a "for Veterans, by Veterans" goal. Our tagline is "Giving a Voice to those who Gave All."

We're offering both music and syndicated conservative talk shows and are now networking with Veteran owned business to solidify partnerships before launch.

RallyPoint.com to us so far is awesome to us! Have seen great content in the discussions and we have not been inundated so far with spam, ads and "targeted stories" so we're pretty happy campers here!
