Why do active service members have to go back through MEPS so many times? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/why-do-active-service-members-have-to-go-back-through-meps-so-many-times

So while I am waiting for my recruiter to work with MEPS in my area it makes me scratch my head a bit. So I was passed threw meps when I came in in 05 then again in 07 when going to a new AIT for the Army, then again when I switched to the Air Force in 2013 then now again when switching to the Navy.

So here is my question, Why do active SM's Have to go back threw meps so many times? I mean I understand if its been 4 or 5 years since you went in but isn't that what our yearly physicals are for?? To make sure we are still fit for service just seems like a way for Meps to help make themselves look better and get more money in the pockets of those involved. You gonna try for the Coast Guard, too? The Marines? Nah! How about the Merchant Marines, instead? I had to go through all sorts of exams. Cataracts, for example. For heavens sake I could read the chart. Wounded in action and had all the prescription s, opiates and all. Guess as long as I could hold a weapon I was ok. The process significantly degrades the pool of available personnel.
