Why do I have a new assignment projection to Fort Drum on my ERB when I literally just started in-processing here at Fort Hood? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/why-do-i-have-a-new-assignment-projection-to-fort-drum-on-my-erb-when-i-literally-just-started-in-processing-here-at-fort-hood

Just PCS'd moving the family from Germany with orders to Fort Hood. Just arrived and received the rest of our Household Goods. We got a nice place off base, daughter just started back up in school. Glanced at my ERB and it shows a new projection for Fort Drum. I just sent my branch manager an email about this. Anybody else have any insight into this. Is it probably just a ''glitch?" Plus, I'm like the only NCO here at the replacement battalion here on Hood that doesn't have a pin point assignment, just says "2ABCT.'' I'm losing my mind. Were you originally scheduled to go to Drum and got orders to Hood? Usually it is a SNAFU and with the new AIMS2 program, I have inbound officers who are pinpointed to a company level that are going to a different battalion. The Army keeps changing the systems and well, the ORB and ERB (SRB) are fed by other programs and systems, something is reporting incorrectly, call your AO at HRC. CW5 Sam R. Have fun with that one.
The projection though. I doubt that it is a glitch, but it can't be ruled out. More than likely, branch has probably just started to plan a little ways out. Intelligence isn't a huge community in the Army and I imagine it is far easier to plan into the future for your MOS than it is for say infantry. This would probably most definitely be the case depending on where you stand in regards to making SFC. If you are a shoe in to get a sequence number, or perhaps have one and are just waiting for that lucky day, there may be plans for an E7 slot. Again, I can only make semi informed guesses.
As the MSG previously advised, in order to get yourself a no bs warm and fuzzy feeling about it, you should call up your branch and get a straight forward answer.
Enjoy Ft Hood. I was there for about 4.5 years with 3d ACR. Do the idiots at the gate still say "Welcome to the Great Place"? As for forecast on you paperwork that is likely just a placeholder, and definitely not on your horizon. The Army is not in the habit of moving Sokdiers inside a tgeee year window. I would not panic, enjoy the tour do your job, share time with your family and get promoted. Thank you for your service. When I flew space A from Panama to Charlestown, SC I was on leave and had orders to Fort Hood. MPs met my family and I as we got off the plane called us into a side room and informed me I was being emergency diverted to Fort Drum into an extreme shortage MOS slot unit getting ready to deploy to Somalia. I was a bit disrespectful to them telling them they were freaking crazy if they thought I was going to Fort Drum. They read me the riot act and threatened to take me into custody, cancel my leave, and put me on the first plane to Syracruz, NY. I had to surrender all copies of my Fort Hood orders and they issued me Fort Drum orders and made me sign a form saying I had been notified of the change in assignment. Fort Drum falls under the XVIIITH ABC and they have priority on replacement because they are on alert deployment status continuously. When I arrived on Fort Drum we got a room at the guest house and they fast tracked me through in processing and sent me to CIF and the next day I was at the AFB in Troy, NY waiting for standby flights to Somalia. My unit had already deployed two weeks earlier and they wanted me there ASAP. That was how I spent the next 14 days sleeping on a cot waiting for a flight to Somalia. My unit rear detachment left my family at the guest house with a power of attorney to sign for housing and absolutely no family assistance of any kind. My wife met a SGM's wife at the guesthouse and she assisted my family very much. After two weeks Congress got word of the 100 plus soldiers sleeping on cots at the airport waiting for standby flights and put an immediate curtailment on it. This allowed me to take care of my family as it should have been from the start. Almost like getting Shanghaied back in the old Navy days. I don't know if Fort Drum has improved any since those days 1993-1997 but somehow I doubt that it has. Out of four years I spent only 18 on or at Fort Drum all in the dead of winter. The other 30 months I was deployed somewhere worldwide. As you can probably tell I am not a fan of Fort Drum. However I will say because I succeeded in three very challenging assignments there I was picked up on initial promotion board for both MSG and SGM. Fast tracking both because of excellent ratings in those three different units that were the three most difficult and challenging assignments I ever had. Best of luck in your challenge!
