It's actually a quite interesting question. I think all of you might perhaps find of particular interest, as did I, to know that many clinical types, for a whole litany of reasons, are often taken by various clinical doctoral programs, not just med, but also allied health, with such majors, as there seems to be an impression, sometimes misguided, in my view, sometimes perhaps not, that such minds might actually make superior clinicians, I mevernuad the gift before my disability. I loved and still love the science, I always did, I always will, even members of my own family fit that schema of thought, they are clinicians, and, obv, going d at it, whereas I never was. I could do it, I did do it, seriously, allied health doctoral level, for sevl urs, before my wife and I needed to have me shut my license, ultimately, unfortunately. I can't begin to recount for app of you the sheer number of times I'd encounter, to my quite consider able consternation, other cliniciams given chances I never was, for the simple reason, that, despite my science training, which was, I assure all of you, quite real, and my range of humanistic interests, I never fit the psychological profile interviewers expected of clinicians, a sort their f touchy feely mindset that they recognized when they encountered it, quite clearly, though never in me, evidently. Also, some minds, difficult though it might be to fathom, just simply made good pilots, navs, aviators, NFOs, etc., without technical backgrounds. During WW2, the actor Douglas Fairbanks, in his autobio A Hell of a War, discussed how friends had suggested to him that he apply to naval inteo for a commission, which jedmgottem, and found his cine!a exposure used in the D Day landing decptioms, fascinating story. The actor Tyrone Power was seriously used as a transport pilot in combat environments, despite no serious science training. Even Maj. Gen. James Stewart, USAFR, the actor, and Henry Fonda, who got a Bronze Star in WW2, were never originally trained for science, though I think Gen. Stewart was seriously aviation trained, and even flew as an observer in combat once, little known now, in Vietnam, I'd read. Ivemthus known of numerous historical as well as personal instances through friends and/or acquaintances where humanistic backgrounds often led to being successful at a military life, such is by no means unheard of, attorneys also quite frequently have such backgrounds, as well. That was a most perceptive question, good discussion, many thanks.
