Why do some people block others on Rally Point? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/why-do-some-people-block-others-on-rally-point <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I know this has probably come up before - but I find it quite odd when going to comment on a post but I get the angry cat (or whatever comes up) that I can&#39;t because I&#39;ve been blocked. Most of the time it&#39;s people I don&#39;t recall ever having a discussion with. <br /><br />It kind of detracts from the purpose of this site to block people from replying on posts - especially when they can just address that person somewhere else on a thread. <br /><br />I guess I just don&#39;t get the point of blocking someone when it&#39;s not like on FB and you can&#39;t see their comments or profile anymore. It just stops them from responding to other posts in a thread - which is irritating. <br /><br />Just a thought. I pointed out more than 20 lies about me in just 3 posts by SSG Bob Ricci. I then told him he needs an integrity check and owes me an apology. He then blocked me. <br />My problem with &quot;blocking&quot; people is it completely cuts off discourse. I&#39;ve never understood it. I&#39;ve never required my friends to agree with my politics or social inclinations nor should I be required to agree with theirs. I have a group for whitewater boating friends that includes everyone from an unreformed Missouri red neck, classical liberal college types (not Progressives), all the way to a former card carrying Communist. The only time I&#39;ve ever blocked anyone is if they engage in repeated personal attacks. Remembering that I come from an Infantry and Engineering background where the language is to say the least impolite at times, it takes a lot to get under my skin. There was a pair of people actually (almost a tag team) who tended to get rather stalkery if engaged in debate and disagreed with. The ability to sit in an area and comment on what others say is by nature a conversation. Like the stiff-arm in football the blocking of a person is kin to that. These are normally people who are not accustomed to having their opinions challenged and feel everyone should take what they say without question. <br /><br />As for getting blocked by people you never had a conversation with... sometimes you may be trying to reply to a person within a thread started by a different individual that has a block in place so you can&#39;t reply - so it looks like the person you are trying to reply to has blocked you, but it was the original poster.
