Why does Congress need so many days off?

The days off were so they could go back to their farms and businesses.
But as your question suggests this should be changed.
I believe it should be the next thing that people push for.
This is a perfect thing to change in government.

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint - They have to return home to see constituents to tend to their needs - and tomfundraise for the next election. So, how do we get people to demand change? I am trying to plant the seeds that current system is not really current. Maybe if they do not have a horse whip, then their vacations are cut.

I don't think they have too many days off. We (the regular Joe's) don't have enough days off. I want my two day weeks (with 5 day pay checks of course). :)

It's we the people who need Congress to take so many days off. It relieves our left arms (or right arms, depending) from being behind us protecting our wallets or buried in our purses trying to keep the vandals out of them, whenever the Congress Critters are officially in Session! So they do it for us, and we should be pleased about it, and I think we should offer them even more vacay days.
