Why does cost savings/avoidance have to be on the backs of the military members?

"The measure would allow a lower-than-anticipated pay raise for troops starting in January and includes trims in the growth of military housing stipends, new co-pays for some military drug prescriptions and plans to scale down the commissary benefit." (Why not reduce the cost of failed weapon systems? Oh, because that would mean some Senator/Congressional Rep wouldn't be able to tout their accomplishments for reelection.)

What infuriates me are these cuts during war times. Who ever thought of giving pink slips to soldiers downrange is an insensitive prick.

MAJ Ken Landgren, I remember reading about that and I wondered why they would do that. It pissed me off, knowing how I felt as a combat soldier, and how that would have affected me. They have enough on their minds being deployed, without something like that happening. That's a chicken shit way of giving pink slips.

SGT (Join to see) - We stress honor and integrity. I see no honor in pink slips on a deployment.

Heh. Y'all evidently weren't around for Desert Shield/Desert Storm... A lot of units deployed with their pink slips, then finished inactivating when they got home.

MAJ Ken Landgren - Sir I couldn't imagine what was going through those unfortunates that got RIFd while deployed. That had to be a massive kick in the junk.

Sgt Spencer Sikder Brother you nailed with this statement, "Why not reduce the cost of failed weapon systems? Oh, because that would mean some Senator/Congressional Rep wouldn't be able to tout their accomplishments for reelection."
We don't have a large enough voice so we are easy pickens.
