SPC Private RallyPoint Member4553310

Hey guys, quick question for anybody here because my recruiter said he didn't know and the MSG at MEPS said he didn't know either. I've tried searching all over but to no avail:

I start Basic the first week of October as 11x option 40. It says my OSUT is 24 weeks long, doesn't say anything about RASP, and doesn't say anything about Airborne School. But it does say that "total training" time is 26 weeks 4 days. Also says I have BAT Start Date of the last week of March...

On top of that, my contract term length is 4 years 29 weeks.

So I'm also assuming the 29 weeks tacked on to my 4 year contract is my training time? ... But 29 weeks of training time doesn't seem to be the normal length (even for option 40).

So here is my question... Why does my OSUT say 24 weeks??
-- Is it 14 weeks of OSUT + 2 weeks of Christmas Exodus + 8 weeks of RASP??
-- Is it 16 weeks of OSUT + 8 weeks of RASP??
-- Is it the new 22 week OSUT talked about on www(.)army(.)mill ?? Then 2 weeks of Christmas?

Like I said, my recruiter said he didn't know and the MSG at MEPS said he didn't know either.

All the while, I've been told that they changed the order around so that RASP is now always after OSUT but before BAT.

And so what I don't get is even with the 24 weeks of OSUT, the 2 weeks of BAT... say 1 week of 30th AG... That still only adds up to 28 weeks 4 days. And IF that doesn't include my time at RASP: Then that puts me at 36 weeks (with my contract saying 4 years 29 weeks)...

The training length and the dates don't make sense to me...Why does my contract stay that my OSUT is 24 weeks long?2019-04-17T11:48:51-04:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member4553310

Hey guys, quick question for anybody here because my recruiter said he didn't know and the MSG at MEPS said he didn't know either. My understanding is that you will go to Airborne when and if you complete RASP. They had started a "Pre-Rasp" week, I don't know if that is still in effect, but RASP is 8 weeks now. Then 3 weeks for Airborne. So 36 weeks is correct if you don't have any dead time between courses, which will happen.Response by CPT Lawrence Cable made Apr 17 at 2019 1:36 PM2019-04-17T13:36:57-04:002019-04-17T13:36:57-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member4554021

BAT is Basic Airborne Training.
All you need to know is that if you aren't enrolled in RASP you can volunteer for it during Airborne school.
Stop trying to over think it. You're not accounting for possible wait times for classes to start between schools, etc. It takes as long as it takes, you just hurry up and wait till it's over.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 17 at 2019 4:51 PM2019-04-17T16:51:31-04:002019-04-17T16:51:31-04:00MAJ Javier Rivera4554283

Don’t overthink your timelines since they must likely change a bit. There are many factors affecting everything after OUST. You could be a hold over either at jump school or RASP for an unknown numbers of reason; or you might be so lucky that your timeline is perfect like a Swiss clock.Response by MAJ Javier Rivera made Apr 17 at 2019 6:38 PM2019-04-17T18:38:22-04:002019-04-17T18:38:22-04:00SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member4554810

Didn’t read through the comments but you have to count for inprocessing which is usually a week longResponse by SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 17 at 2019 10:02 PM2019-04-17T22:02:41-04:002019-04-17T22:02:41-04:002019-04-17T11:48:51-04:00
