Why does our forward observer have a brand new M4A1 and we still use decades old M4's and half my squad has 7B's?

I appreciate that MSG. It's not that I want an M4 A-1, it's how the funds are allocated.
MSG Dan Castaneda
SSG Geoffrey Tate - Funds are allocated fairly well down on our side buddy. Plus, all our M4s have 10 1/2 inch barrels. They're as cool as they get.
CPT Pedro Meza
MSG Dan Castaneda - You had to teas the poor guy? Great laugh.

So a loose m4 that is 8 moa is better than no m4? Thank you for your wisdom.
Our forward observer that will never shoot his weapon is wven baffled that he got it.

SSG Geoffrey Tate -
In the Corps our artillery observer or spotter who is responsible for directing artillery and mortar fire onto the target, also may be called to do double duty as a Forward Air Controller (FAC) for close air support and spotting for naval gunfire.
So the need for a functional weapon maybe of concern. In your initial post you make no mention of a malfunction or non accurate weapon. With reference to the original post an old weapon does not mean a nonfunctional weapon. In the late 70's early 80's the Marine Corps still had in the armory 38 revolvers and yes they functioned. Would a nice new Colt 45 been nice, sure but you make do with what you have. It's called adapt and overcome!

MSgt (Join to see) - Youngsters complain about everything, I drove one young soldier that was to heavy, nuts, caused he complained that I was to old to drag him if he was wounded, I told him to loose weight cause I would live his behind. He bitched and complained to higher, and was told Meza is right loose weight.
I'm not sure how the Army operates but the USMC Forward Observer teams are part of an Artillery Battery, and get all their gear through them. Most of the time it was ass-backwards of what you described. The infantry units got the newer Helmets, flak Jackets, bivvy-sacks and web gear first, as well as weapons, and the FO teams were the red headed step children.
