ISIL = Islamic State in the Levant while ISIS = Islamic State in Iraq &amp; Syria. If not mistaken, the Levant is a larger area than just Iraq &amp; Syria, to encompass a fair portion of the entire Middle east. ISIL is almost as good but missing a few of the Connotations in the Native Language.
