As of today most of us have to deal with at a minimum 5 different systems to complete mandatory 350-1 training, PME, NCOES Pre-req's, etc.

Blackboard, ALMS, ATRRS, JKO, DTMS, Skillport, GAT.......

I understand the concept behind transitioning to a digital training platform ($$) for the mandatory classes, but wouldn't it be more cost effective and user friendly if all of the training was co-located on one system?

Certificates could populate immediately for your training manager to update their latest high speed tracker. Course recertification will lockout until a month from expiration to prevent the "I want to get ahead of this 6 months out" leader.

How could we go about combining all of these platforms into one? This is not going away and before we have to access 10 different systems to complete 20 different mandatory courses shouldn't we try to make this easier?

That system was supposed to be AKO. The one stop shop with everything. Email, training, SharePoint, finance, medical, etc. Contracts, good idea fairies, and funding gets in the way and now you have the chaos that we have now.

I've never had the chance to sit in on a town hall with any SMA or other higher echelon leadership that could really look at this problem and put some solutions into work. You had better believe that I would raise my hand and ask. This online training thing isn't going away and we need to make the most of it. It is taking away so much time away from us leaders when we can be conducting a multitude of other MOS-specific training.

The Folks that run ATRRS will NEVER allow it's content to be corrupted and they will remain a Stand Alone program. I attended an ATRRS conference back in 1997(date?). Their database is the official School record. By merging it with other platforms, it would be subject it to manipulation. Certain levels of access have certain levels of control. For example, I as Division level operator cannot change a person's graduation status. Only the Schoolhouse can do that. I was the approval authority for units doing the Brigade and Company level input. Trust me when I tell you that a LOT of people don't do their homework before putting someone in for a Course. Got into a pretty heated pissing contest once with a dumbass SGM that wanted a SPC to go to ANCOC and was pissed because I keep disapproving the Application. I was constantly on the phone with someone or another to verify shit like GT scores for MOS re-classifications or APFT and Ht/Wt. It's some serious shit when MY name was on the line to cut orders and blow $1,000 or more (JUST for travel!) to send someone to a school that they weren't qualified to attend. I took my job very personal.

There are ATRRS reports that can be downloaded to a Excel spreadsheet that can provide specific parameters for UIC's and other data. It's a SERIOUS pain in the ass to learn but I used to regularly grab reports for several different Commands as favors to friends. Before I retired, there was a newer program called ITRRS. It consolidated SIDPERS, DEERS, ATRRS and several other Personnel programs into a searchable database. The CG and all the Brigade Commanders thought it was GREAT! My specific reply to my COL was ~ "Cool. Now O-6's and above can micromanage to the Team level."
