Why has our military become ground zero for social experiments?

This administration is really getting pathetic with its repertoire. It is constantly shoving these experiments down our throats, poking and prodding us just to see how we react. Instead of focusing on what makes him qualified to be the SecArmy we ( American Society ) focus on the fact he is gay, and advancing gay rights... Look LBTG should continue their plight for equal status recognition and all that jazz, I am for it, but do not use my military as your platform!

I certainly agree with you our military it seems under this administration are being treated like test gerbils. Now if you look at Fannings record he certainly seems qualified for the job, him being gay shouldn't have been announced as it plays no part in his ability to do his job.

Yes, the current administration certainly has been ground zero for social experiments: expanding the role of women in the military to the extreme; embracing same sex relationships then marriage but not changing the UCMJ to remove sodomy as a crime; embracing transgender people, nominating an openly homosexual person to the next Secretary of the Army, etc.

It actually applies to the whole of society. We are pushing "equality" for those who say they don't have it.

Because military members are better at obeying lawful orders than most of the rest of the general population. Not saying that as a slight to the military; its a hierarchical system in which orders are given and followed. Unfortunately, this makes the military an ideal petri dish for social engineers who think the military's purpose is to be their experimental arena rather than to defend the nation.

What difference does it make that he's gay? He's proven he can do the job. But someone has to be first. And when someone is the first, there is always controversy surrounding that person. Look at our first black woman Supreme Court Justice. So many people were against Biden appointing someone to the position for being black and female. But when would it have happened otherwise? If someone doesn't make the change they want to see in the world, then nothing ever changes. These aren't experiments. They are making opportunities for future generations. They are making it possible to one day not even think about someone's race, gender, sexual identity, etc. when appointing them to important positions. That day is not today, but maybe it will be tomorrow. One can only hope.
