Why hasn’t a woman been elected President of the United States?

If Hillary Clinton and her fellow Democrats are to be believed, American men, especially Republican American men, simply aren’t ready to accept a woman anywhere near the Oval Office. Of course, they conveniently forget that it was they who excoriated the last woman to try, Sarah Pallin. Well, I for one, an old white Republican American male, am champing at the bit to vote for another, Nikki Haley, the former Ambassador to the United Nations. If her performance in that role, at least that portion that the media deigned to report, wasn’t enough to sway me, reading her book, With All Due Respect, cinched the deal.

To be honest, Ms Haley didn’t appear on my radar until she was appointed Ambassador by President Donald Trump. Thus, my judgement was initially formed on a very narrow window into her life and times. I didn’t know, for example, that she was previously the governor of South Carolina in which role she greatly contributed to her state, especially its economy. She attracted new investment, new businesses, and thus created new jobs. She helped her state’s citizens heal following a grievous racially-inspired hate crime and capped it off by leading the charge to remove the Confederate flag from the grounds of the State House. She even had the flag pole torn down to assure people that it wouldn’t be returning.

After answering President Trump’s call to serve as Ambassador, she reversed the legacy of President Obama’s infamous policy of leading from behind. Under her leadership, America once again assumed its rightful place as a moral arbiter. (Any who might ask “What right has America to be a moral arbiter” probably should stop reading her. You’re wasting your time and mine.)
Most importantly, Ambassador Haley made the UN work for its money. Agencies were put on notice that America’s taxpayers expected value in return for their contribution, their massive contribution to that organization’s budget. And she got results.

Of course, like Sarah Pallin, Ambassador Haley’s success was met with the ire of the progressive Left and its shills in the Democratic party and the media. An author published a book in which he accused her of having an affair with President Trump (what other reason might a woman serve that man) and the media winked and nodded in agreement. Indeed, Ambassador Haley was a late comer to the Trump camp, a very late comer indeed. She campaigned for the last of his serious contenders in the 2016 Republican nomination contest and yet President Trump called her to serve. Why? It appears that he can respect opposition, unlike most other politicians. Then again, he isn’t actually a politician, is he? More importantly, he wasn’t looking for a sycophant, and he didn’t get one. When Ambassador Haley disagreed with the President’s position or choice of words, he didn’t have to ask for her opinion. She was in his face with it.

Frequently, throughout her book, Ambassador Haley harkens back to the charge that she was often considered ambitious, a fatal flaw in women in the opinion of many, women as well as men. Sadly, in my opinion, they mistook dedication and competence for ambition. Too often, I have met ambitious men and women who had no dedication or competence, just raw ambition. It is a fatal flaw in anyone regardless of their identity (as Democrats prefer to segregate people).

Speaking of segregation, Ambassador Haley is well versed on that aspect of American culture. As the daughter of Indian immigrants, she grew up brown in a black and white world. She and her sister were truly strangers in a strange land. Rather than adopting the posture of victim, she marched headlong, headstrong into the conflict. As a child she exhibited unparalleled courage, a personality trait that is visible in her every aspect to this day.

Yes, I’m a fan. Let her run. Please let her run for President. I will vote for her like a Democrat, frequently if need be.

Haley’s had to do some damage control because of her recent Confederate flag remarks, CPT Jack Durish, but I think she handled it well. She also wasn’t afraid to stand up to the United Nations and their head clown, António Guterres. I’d vote for her.

Thanks for the ‘heads-up’ about Nikki Haley. I’ll be paying more attention to her in the coming months/years.

A question, though. Do you believe that when the Republican political organization submitted the McCain/Palin ticket, it seriously believed they could win? The way I read the mood of the country in 2008, it was almost certain that the next President was going to be a Democrat. So, the Reps put forward a Viet Nam Vet/POW/hero and paired him with a woman. That way, they could always say to America, “We gave you a hero and a woman. What more could we do?!?” They just hadn’t counted on her being so obviously unfit, so ‘in-over-her+head’, as she was. I believe the RNC threw her into the deep end of the pool in order to prove that they were sensitive to women’s issue without first making sure she could swim.

Because the near misses and candidates to date have left a sour taste in many voters mouths. Hillary continues to demonstrate why you shouldn't look at a woman to many in the "See this is what you can get role." Also take a look at the former VP candidates. I think Geraldine Ferraro was the first with Walter Mondale of a major party. Then Sarah Palin with John McCain for the other. There have been many others on the Green, Libertarian, etc. parties. Whenever I hear the "it's time for" a whatever out of a candidate's mouth, that turns me off as it's immediately identity politics vs. capability politics. I think Jack is on to something with Nikki. I'm sure if Trump was in the toilet fearing a loss, he'd surely consider dumping Pence for her. One not mentioned is Tulsi Gabbard. She's going to rattle around for a while steering the moderate left course. If she can survive the heavy seas, who knows? Her first serious test will be associated with her Present vote this week. Shrewd gamble.

Why hasn’t a woman been elected president? To me the answer is simple neither party has put a sufficient candidate up as an option.

And that’s saying something considering I’m not an out right fan of either of the last two presidents.

Give me a female candidate that is not an outright liar , fraud , contributing factor to murder and someone who should be a convicted federal prison or and I’ll strongly consider the option

There is no shortage of qualified women that could be President. I think a woman will be elected as either President or VP in the next couple of election cycles. Haley is a strong candidate if she wants to endure that painful process to get elected. I look to Maggie Thatcher as the best example of a highly effective global leader. America could benefit from its own Thatcher.

I would suggest she become VP to President Trump and then, in 2024, run for President. To me, That would be an Awesome win for the AMERICAN People!

I am a registered nurse and my career field is full of women. That being said, getting a female president elected is not prevented by angry old white males, they have to win over the women of the country.

Competent ones don't run. The ones that DO run? They are a mixed bag of crazy that most voters won't touch. Evidence to that is Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin. We've had women from both parties make runs or at least the attempt at runs with varying degrees of success. Part of the problem is that, in my opinion, the ones that are most qualified and really stood a chance... simply choose not to for a variety of reasons ranging from not in their ambition to no desire to family. The Presidency is no light thing to undertake and most simply have no desire... or the notion of no political chops for it.

We have women who were chief executives in foreign nations, in the USA we have had female chief executives at the state level and in industry. To date, we have had women run for the presidency starting in 1872, but none have gained the wide support necessary among the electorate to win the office. Not an evil plot, just haven't had the woman with the persona and demonstrated political positions to gain wide enough acceptance...yet.

I won’t vote for anyone just because of their race or gender. I didn’t vote for McCain when he ran for president with her as the Vice President because I couldn’t stand McCain. I didn’t vote for Hillary for the same reason. As for Nicky Haley, I would definitely vote for her and my decision there has nothing to do with her being a woman.

My response to this is "The good-ol'-boys club (that being the top 1-10%) haven't found a woman that is crooked enough or that they can corrupt. Hillary R. Clinton was close but after "Slick-Willy" and his sexual escapades that ship sailed. Contrary to popular belief(s) your "vote" is pretty much a waste of paper. The entire political system needs to be revamped. I have yet to hear anything new that hasn't already been presented. How many ways can you tell the same lie with the same end result? If Ms. Haley were to run I would give her my vote. I am of the opinion that only 1 person from a family should ever be elected, I learned that from the "Bush disaster dynasty." The government is a lot like the Matrix "take this pill and everything ends here, or take this one and I will show you just how deep the rabbit hole goes." As a nation we all keep asking for the same pill.

Hillary was and is not a woman, she is an evil POS that has always been power hungry. No matter how anyone feels about Trump he helped us dodge a meter size bullet by Keeping Cankles of the soiled pantsuited variety out of office and any from even more money to steal.
There are plenty of fully qualified women that can do the job much better than the last shit show debate. But they will NEVER be selected by those in power because they don't meet the requirements of that crooked crew. The business as usual political cabal protects itself by keeping out most politicians that don't buy into their methodology of destroying this nation bit by bit.

I don't see anything wrong with Condoleezza Rice being elected as President even though she used to be a Democrat. It's not the woman part, it's who the woman is. Never a Kamala Harris and we all know why. Just like the first black president, we all witnessed that mistake and still, many are unwilling to admit that was a mistake.
