Why have Army Regulation if no one has to follow them?

Most recent is the overweight policy. Not saying the soldier wasn't overweight, but the process they used is more designed to just be rid of the soldier instead of trying to help them. No counseling statement, no nutritionist, no remedial pt. Just put a flag on them and start the process of chapter. Have we really went from a regulation strong unit to a " whatever the commander feels like" military?

Seeing more and more of " up to commander's discretion " to incorporate and justify what is done. No more following the regs to enforce rules. And these new rules tend to be only for certain people, not the entire unit. Can go from personal ideas of how hair should be worn to keeping people a long time after work because the commander doesn't want to do anything right now.

Your question would infer that no one is required to follow any regulation. I'll call BS on that one. I'm not sure what else to say based on such a vague statement.

We have to follow them. Some things are seldom enforced(check the reg on lacing combat boots) that doesn’t mean it’s not there
