Why is it that there are fewer and fewer "American" companies. Do we as veterans need to start our own company to help save our nation?

We have lost a lot of factory jobs in a few decades. Evolving economies go from agrarian to industrial age. Labor is cheap and so are the products although quality is not the best. Once a nation starts producing better quality products, they have the wherewithal to make more sophisticated products. I will Japan as an example as they went through this process.
There is a paradox to growing economies. International companies will invest in growing countries which hastens the sophistication of the products. Japan and the US invested in Korea.
Now comes China, they went from an agrarian economy to an industrial one, however, they are doing simultaneously in their economy that use to be linear for other countries. As we create new technologies, China is stealing them so it is difficult to be competitive because their labor is a lot cheaper.

Always the economy. I think its awareness at the transition phase, as we exit out the military.
