Because it’s a convenient means for them to threaten Russia while at the same never having to meaningfully sacrifice due to hiding behind national caveats.

Turks, distrust/hate Kurds with a passion and it is reciprocated by the Kurds. Kurds have been trying to have their own nation since the Ottoman Empire, and have conducted bombings, raids, incursions into Turkey for generations, and the Turks come right back after them. It's just about like Palestinians and Israelis .

The Kurds are terrorists dude, I almost joined the Lions of Rojava in 2015 the so called "moderates" and found out 1 they were communists 2 they said they didn't need any more fighters on the ISIS front, but recommended I join their "brothers" in the PKK, an officially designated terrorist group responsible for bombing civilian buses (among other non military targets) in Turkey. They make it like the groups are separate when in reality they are all the same people and who they have "allegiance" to depends on the target that gets hit and weather more military or civilians die. Turkroaches are trash don't get me wrong, but the Kurds got what was coming to them.
