Measures of success? ROE? Mission scope? ISIS would love nothing more than to see us back over there. It legitimizes their belief and riles up those who might've been on the fence. And they know we cannot kill an ideal, although we have the absolute ability to kill a human. I stand by what I've said before, going all out war is meaningless unless we have a plan to deal with the ideal that perverted Islam, and allows radicalism. In doing this we'd loose "allies" in the ME being that some (Saudi for ex), are known to have schools where they breed hate against the west. So in defeating ISIS are we willing to destroy the ME as it's known now? (there are going to be a crapload of YES answers) Are we willing to rebuild it again? (more YESES from the crowd) With Big Oil over there, are we willing to punch ourselves in the gut and say human interests trump Big Business interests? <br /> We also fall prey to our own when they publish and embellish the thought that the ME has been actively "fighting" ISIS and we've done nothing. When this pic was published, the internet broke, mainstream media went nuts, and every military FB page went in on it. So the King of Jordan takes action... Great Job bro...note we don't show pictures of our special forces jumping into every place they go, and they've been active in the fight. Note we don't show pictures of every military division, every ship, or amphib unit that makes a move again they've been actively engaged. So I guess to get some favorable looks if Obama was to get into "uniform" get in a C-130 and be seen pushing out paratroopers with a scowl on his face, it'd be ok right? He would still catch hell over that and it's not his place to be in that plane doing anything. If there was a IO campaign waged against the US, ISIS would have the easiest job ever. Sit back and allow the mainstream media to sow the seeds of discord in the minds of the populace and come in and mop up on the net. To prove my point, look at some of the comments here on RP in regards to the way the president handles things vs how the French president did, the King of Jordan, Saudi, or anyone else that IS NOT an American.
