Why the arbitrary “level” an RP member must attain to be allowed to downvote a comment? That is ignorant.

I tried to downvote a member that posted a meme regarding POTUS. The meme said “Elected by Russia, Impeached by America”. Not only is this inflammatory, it is inaccurate. Yet because I don’t have some arbitrary status set by RP admins, I was not allowed to downvote that particularly disrespectful comment. Why?

That prevents brand new members from coming onto the boards and throwing out downvotes until they have had enough time on the site to understand the norms of participation on RP.

COL Joel Weeks unless policy has changed, I have been down votes and I have down votes without a problem . Go into the RP setti gs and select the support link. Ask the question and an administrator should respond.

From the support files: Members must have a minimum of 15,000 points in order to down vote. This is to prevent people ("trolls") who are not active members of the community from abusing this feature. Click on the thumbs down image below the poster's picture. You can undo your vote by clicking on the same vote button. You can also change your vote to an up vote by clicking on the thumbs up button. You only receive influence points on your first vote for any post, regardless of how many times you undo and redo your votes.

It’s setup this way to prevent “troll farms” and undue influence from brand new accounts. PR firms and other companies out there actually hire people to post and vote online to push their specific agenda. They have scripts to follow for posting comments and to counter people adverse to their agenda. This is why the majority of comments you see on YouTube, Facebook, and media sites are from paid posters and completely fake. It’s the only way to prevent companies pushing agendas from creating a ton of new accounts to immediately affect opinion by downvoting.

Since you are new, Sir, if you have any Member of rally point say something derogatory to you, get a hold of SFC James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" or SSG Carlos Madden and those people online who were offensive to you can be censured or kicked out of rally point. I had some extremest person who said to me 'how in the heck did you ever become a commissioned officer?' A lot of persons on this site make derogatory and inflammatory comments about President Trump which it still boggles my mind that military feel that way about a good Leader. Supporters of Pres Trump just have to become effective counterpunchers with Truth. The resistance i knows it is losing ground.

15,000 points comes pretty quickly and that's what it takes to down vote someone. I have never down voted anyone. If there is a post I strongly disagree with I do not down vote, I express my disagreement and leave it at that. I have found that if I am respectful, they are as well in their response. I am far more interested in why people feel the way they do than in what I feel. The exchange is educational for me and, hopefully, also for them.

As far as the crappy meme goes its better to just remember a bit of advice my mom used to tell me. “What do expect from an ass hole but shit.” There are some people on here who would talk trash about Trump if he cured cancer tomorrow. You cannot reason with them. They will not listen to anything you say that runs contrary to their opinion. sometimes I engage and sometimes I don’t. The hateful memes on here are starting to kill the platform and turn it into another Fakebook. It is sad to see the division in this country. I do not agree with everything Trump does. I do not particularly like him as a person but I voted for him for president not for pastor and certainly not for best friend. I voted for him because I dislike what the democrat party has become with the cancel culture and identity politics. They left the middle behind years ago and most of my views exist in the middle. I now hold my nose and vote republican. Maybe someday our country will heal and people can have civil discussions without one side calling another side hitler and racist or communists. I pray for that day.
