Why would people say that vaping is as bad as smoking when a person's overall health improved after they quit smoking and started vaping?

the problem with vaping is that it is not regulated so there is no way of knowing what has been put in the "juice". Also, the "experts" don't say that vaping is just as bad as smoking. research shows that it is not as bad as smoking but it is still not "safe". It's like saying getting shot in the foot is not as bad as getting shot in the chest. if you can quit, do so. I quit smoking a couple months ago after being a smoker for nearly 40 years.

I applaud you for quitting smoking. I encourage you to stop vaping. It’s even more dangerous than smoking.
You are putting your lungs at risk.
Better to take a run or walk to relax or distress.

I quit using tobacco products completely years ago. I'm glad I did.

While vaping may not be completely "safe", at least when someone uses one around me, I don't go home smelling like a stale ashtray while coughing and wheezing.

There are plenty of known causes due to the chemicals used. Vapes are not FDA regulated as tobacco is. Even with that regulation there are plenty of chemicals in traditional cigarettes' that are harmful. It is know that there are fewer chemicals in vapes and in comparison can be healthier in some aspects but there are different concerns with vapes.

Cpl Robert Russell Payne there have been some published concerns about vaping and I have a friend 75 years old who vaapes like a teenager. She has read the concerns about vaping but she loves her vape. I would say there are personal options and personal choices.

From a clinician's perspective, many youth are using both methods. My older brother did until the physician discovered his usage. He started at age 8. Many in my maternal family indulged in nicotine and alcohol. Most paid a dear price in this regard.

Overall health can be a temporary condition and the long term effects of vaping a variety of chemicals is not yet determined. Your lungs like air and inhaling anything outside of that is not optimal.

In my opinion (non medical of course) since they are both bad for you one is as bad as the other. Both cause health problems that can shorten your life span and cause major health problems long term. In my unit in the Corps I was almost the only one who didn't smoke, and also the only one who could get scores in the 290's (out of 300, although I did get a 300 once!) every time.

I get what you're saying. I smoked for about five years and then switched to vaping. My health got better after that. I used to feel tired and short of breath a lot when I smoked, but not anymore.
