Will osut trainees be using sim-rounds or chalk rounds, blank adapters etc. in basic training which will we use more? Please only recently graduated personal (2008-2021) Range

Had a recent graduate in the family and they used mostly blanks and did have few live fire experiences with obviously live rounds. Didn’t hear anything about sims/chalk/paintballs etc being used in our conversations

I just did the 22 week OSUT. We didn't use chalk rounds or any simmunition. We did use a lot of blanks for exercises. But I think it is determined by the company/battalion you goto.

I graduated in 2013. We primarily used blanks and live, however, we used SIM/chalk rounds during UO and FTX3/4.

I went in 2014 and 2015 (split-op). We used blanks just about every day. We only used sim rounds for UO which was a joke.

You will use sims, blank, and live. Typically for any shooting and moving you will do dry, blank, then live. Why? maybe if you had a more specific question we could get that answered.

Are you in Fort Benning right now? And at 30th AG right? I assume that you are, because if you were in your basic training unit you wouldn't have the time to post your question about this subject. But it depends on the unit that you are assign to. They can request for sims and etc. or just use blanks. Good luck

I went in 2012, there was one time I think we used sim rounds for a urban ops. Aside from that it was all blanks. You will do buddy team live fires, night shoots, and qual ranges of all sorts too.

I was ARNG in IL and PA and we used sim rounds a good bit in both states. Even if you don't in basic, you'll get your chance. Now I'm ANG in IN and I guess they use them a good bit too
